I had 2 biopsies done on my nose last week, had 2 different MDs tell me they thought I had skin cancer. The derm guy was even talking about removing part of my nose, skin grafts, reconstructive surgery, etc, etc. Needless to say, I was sweating it all week. Got the results today - NORMAL! Yahoo! Please remember to wear sunscreen when out rockhounding, guys. This is nothing to mess around with. ;D Happy, happy. Joy, joy - Susan

Goes to show about 2nd opinions. If you'd gone with the Darn guy, oops, I mean Derm guy, who knows what would have happened. Glad everything turned out all right.

Hi Susan, Had a mole removed from my back last week, and just found out today that it came back as malignant melanoma. I'm waiting on an appointment with another doctor now. What can I say, such is the price for all that sun worhipping that I did when I was young. Ron

Latest update: No doubt anymore, it is melanoma. Good news is, they say that I've caught it very early and it hasn't spread at all. That means I have to have a divot taken out of my back on the 17th, but no cutting on my lymph nodes. They see no reason not to expect that I'll never have any more problems from that growth. I already inject myself with Interferon weekly for my MS, and ironically, they say that may have helped me since Interferon is also one of the things that they have been trying to slow the growth of melanoma. Been a long time since I've gotten any good news from a doctor. Maybe we're starting a new trend. Ron ps. Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers. Now I just need to get some of those rocks working again!
