Ha, I knew that'd catch your attention! Seems ya just can't have nothin' nice anymore. We bought this last August, brand new, our first new car ever. Some guy ran a stop sign and luckily my wife wasn't going very fast and was able to keep from getting hit in the door. She's okay and so is the other driver, so it's just a matter of getting her car repaired, but it will never be new again. sigh! Ed UPDATE: Well, I took it to the body shop today and the guy is gonna fax me an estimate, but it seems new cars are better off hit head on than from the side. The frame got moved over about 2" and I'm hoping they'll total the car. If not, I'll just get it fixed and trade it in.

Bummer Ed! Glad to hear your wife and the other guy weren't hurt. Having a car get bent up like that is a real PIA! What fun it is to deal with insurance companies and repair shops. Hope they get it right the first time. Take care, Bill

make sure your insurance adjuster checks the motor mounts! i was in a very minor bender a few years back (guy totally ran a red light) smashed into another woman (big time) and slid-bounced into me. i brought it in for an estimeate and noticed it "felt" weird" but failed to mention it to the insurance claim guy (they never listen to women anyway).
brought it back to the dealer a week or so after that and sure enough one of the mounts was cracked and the insurance company said that i hadn't been hit hard enough to cause that damage ....DUH? like they crack one day after an accident totally out of the blue?
shame about the car tho, and you are right, never new again....fix it up and trade it in...

Awww that's a real bummer but I'm sure glad your wife is ok. Do like KD said, get it fixed, trade it in on another new one.

That's a good idea. She really wanted the one next to this one, a 6spd manual tranny and a V6, with navigation and loaded to the gills. It wouldn't be hard to convince her.

Much easier to trade a new toy, than trade a wife. Glad she is ok. the whole thing sucks. bummer.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about that. Glad no one's hurt though. The first scratch always hurts but that's some "scratch".

Yeah but afterwards, you aren't so nervous about a little dent or scratch. I had a car given to me by a friend when I lived in LA. It was an 82 sunbird, nothing fancy. I was rear-ended on the interstate (leading to years of chronic pain). Damage to the car was one of the "fins" was bent up in the back. The adjuster believed the transmission probs I'd started to have were a cause of the accident so he totalled the car and I got around $800 for it. Not bad for a free car.

Get her a Jaguar instead of a Honda next time. She'll be going to fast to get hit. Just think she would have been at least 5 seconds ahead of the other guy.

Got the estimate-$6,175 so far. He said it will probably go up after he takes it apart. Unbelieveable!

Well, they make the cars to take the brunt of force so we don't have to.

Awww man, after all that work I did keeping the kids away from your car... I was afraid that they would run into Ed's new car with their bikes, some one goes and hits it and really "scratches" it up! Luckily, no damage to your better half!

Glad everyone is ok- Hey Ed- They are used as soon as you drive it off the Lot! My wife smacked a deer last fall- not hard mind you- but to the tune of $4600- it aint cheap- but I told her it was a lot cheaper to replace her car (well insurance covered it all) than it was to replace her!
