Have you tried a gurgling fountain as additional white noise? You could even use some of your tumbled stones to line the bowl with. Fish tanks can do the same thing if they have a filter that pours water back into the tank, and there are some fish that will do quite well in even very small tanks. The relatively new Eclipse fish tanks have the filter and lights in the hood, making them great for small spaces. Then you can get some pretty guppies or a siamese fighting fish for her to de-stress over

Do you have a window that opens? You could get one of them hook on shelves for a cat or pet and put it on the out side. Then you would only need the cover the motors from the rain. With the window closed you won't hear the tumblers

Wiz good idea, except in my neighborhood it would disappear within seconds.

Xena, along with Wiz's idea, they have the same type of thing that's fully enclosed. Think of a 18" plexiglass cube, one side open to allow the cat into the enclosure. If you could rig up something that would allow you to fully enclose (minus the cord) the thing, that might mute the sound enough for your SO.

TWO WORDS- VODKA TEA- when your al liquored up- you don't notice the noise!!! No really I can understand the headache thing- ANY Noise is too much- So here is my list of Possible Solutions- Ok? If you have a car- Possibly plugging it in Locked in the car (tell the landlors it's and Electric car and the battery needs charging- or that the battery is dead and you need to keep it plugged in for the engine block heater) In a rented storage space? In a utility closet in the apartment building? At work (can you find a spot that nobody goes to- like a storage closet, or something like that) in a closet, bathroom, kitchen cabnet- any area awaty from the SO's living space- (thge cabnet under the sink would be a good place to soundproof) maybe a neighbors apartment (offer to give em a bit for the lecticity) Hmmm I have a great business idea- Rent a plug!!!! For $39.99 you can rent a plug in my total enclosed- secure warehouse!!!
