well not yet. It needs to arrive. But late one night I was thinking to myself and ended up thinking myself into a business license. Luckily, they are dirt cheap here. I am now Rockhawke Lapidary.
I suppose the next step would be to write up a business plan.

that is GREAT, RockHawke! good luck with your new business. i'd apply for one but in NY they charge an arm and a leg, tax you blue and want ALL sorts of personal details requiring multiple forms and questionaires. maybe some day. but not today.

Really? Here it cost me $20 and a few questions. Maybe it is just because I signed up as sole proprietor.
What do I want to do? Oh, buy rocks wholesale. Create a great web presence. Become an equipment dealer. I have no grand scheme but if I can make enough to support my hobby, that would be fine.

Wholesale is the way to go Hawke. Also, you'd be surprised at the things you can write off. I suggest visiting an accountant and picking their brain. Ours gave us an hour consultation for free when we first started. She is my hero as we discovered a bunch of write offs from square footage of your home office, computer, trips to the post office, picking up material, etc. There is a ton of stuff to write off and the IRS really could care less about someone just starting out so don't worry about them for a few years, you know, until you are as big as Dell!

This isn't my first business. I ran a retail shop for a couple years before it just got too expensive (try convincing someone the $80 pair of hemp jeans is much better than the $25 Levi's and you'll catch my drift). So basically, I just need to see if there are any new laws withing the past 6 years I need to be aware of.

TheHawke, Good for you! I was thinking of updating my buisness licence too. Rite now it's been lapsed for 4 years or so and is for manufacture, not resale. I would buy a pair of Hemp Jeans for $80, they will last much longer than the Levi's, and there's nothing worse than shopping for Jeans.
