Today we went to the Montreal Botanical Gardens, and to the Insectarium. Thought I'd share a few pictures of our day (or should I say "A Bunch of pictures"? ) I've divided the pictures into 4 threads (Not to bog anyone's computer's down with an overload of pictures) One thread is of just flowers Another is of just Scenic type pictures that I took at the Botanical Gardens (greenhouse shots) The other is of butterflies And the last one is of what we saw at the Montreal Insectarium We didn't visit any of the outdoor gardens (too cold) but we had a great time in the green house. Here's their website in case anyone is interested in learning more about them www2.ville.montreal.qc.ca/jardin/jardin.htmEnjoy! To free up some space on photobucket, I moved the pictures to here www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=9385383&uid=4438531

Great pics, Alice. Especially the butterflies.
How big a memory card do you have, or do you carry a spare?

Thanks Rich
I have a 512 MB card (over 400 pictures)
But my rechargables only last for about 150 pictures with no flash (I have only one set of batteries)
Regular store bought batteries only last for about 6 pictures with no flash Figure that one out.

You're right, Alice. That's a strange one. What are we talkin' - 4 AA's ?
My first guess is somebody selling used batteries, cause I can't think of a better one.

What do companies do when people throw their old batteries in the battery recycle bin? Do they give them another burst of charge and sell them as new again?
I think my camera just hungry for battery juice Rich. I'm sure Minolta knew this problem when they put the camera out on the market, so they included rechargeables and a charger with it.
As for New batteries. I don't know why the camera eats those up faster. I put in fresh out of the package Energizer or Duracell batteries, and they get eaten up so quickly. I don't bother buying batteries for the digital anymore. In the end it would be cheaper to use my 35mm and get the pictures developed.
4 brand new batteries costs around $5, and I'm only able to take about 6 - 8 pictures. Would cost a pretty penny to take all the pictures that I take on batteries alone (if I didn't use the rechargeables), and I take A LOT of pictures on a regular basis.
So when my rechargeables are dead, I stop taking pictures. Which is really unfortunate sometimes, because I miss out on a lot of picture taking.
Oh, the camera uses 4 AA batteries.
