Today we went to the Montreal Botanical Gardens, and to the Insectarium. Thought I'd share a few pictures of our day (or should I say "A Bunch of pictures"? ) I've divided the pictures into 4 threads (Not to bog anyone's computer's down with an overload of pictures) One thread is of just flowers Another is of just Scenic type pictures that I took at the Botanical Gardens (greenhouse shots) The other is of butterflies And the last one is of what we saw at the Montreal Insectarium We didn't visit any of the outdoor gardens (too cold) but we had a great time in the green house. Here's their website in case anyone is interested in learning more about them www2.ville.montreal.qc.ca/insectarium/insect.htmEnjoy! To free up some space at Photo bucket, I moved the pictures to herewww.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=9385547&uid=4438531

Oh Gosh no! They were eyeing the lollypops with Meal worms in them. But quickly changed their minds when they found out they were real bugs in them YUCK!
Yes, that beatle in the last pictures is dead. It was pretty big... maybe 8? inches long

But it's so pretty with it's eyelashes! - My kids got out of the fear factor thing when I had them eat the Bertie Botts every flavour beans - couldn't get them to eat the grass ones (which tasted very nice compared to others), never mind the vomit or sardines.

I've never tried them. Guess I'm afraid to get the ear wax, and vomit tasting ones

Or booger or bacon (not a good jelly bean flavor) - thing is we bought the 1kg bag of jelly belly jelly beans at Costco and it contains none of the disgusting flavors but 46 flavors & some are still yucky! popcorn, carmel apple, juicy pear

Quite a nice set of pictures you have in all your threads. Looks like an interesting way to spend a cold winter's day.

LOL Joe My Kids love bugs! (I'm pretty sure most kids do)
My oldest wanted to take a live scorpion home, even after watching a 45 minute documentry they had playing about how deadly they can be.

I love bugs too Those great big scarabs are really cool... and when they fly they sound like little helicopters buzzing around! Pretty amazing that they can even get off the ground, their wings don't look big enough to support them in the air. Now scorpions are another matter entirely... they kinda freak me out. Ever heard the story of the fox and the scorpion crossing the river? Unpredictable little buggers.

LOL I'm not afraid of bugs Joe
Sure some of them look gross and creepy, but most of them are nothing to be scared of (not the bugs we have here locally anyway)

You might be afraid of them if you saw the one on your shoulder! I have a friend who works in the college entomology lab and I hear way too much about bugs!
