I'm in the most southern part of Ontario - found a supplier or rocks in Manitoba - good prices on shipping as well - this may be worth it - I didn,t see any "Llana's lace" listed but they have blue lace! that could do! Just kidding about rubbing it in - I'm glad for your package, now what are you waiting for to start that tumbling? Would love to see that stuff once it,s polished...

i think it was skipper i did a trade with for dino bone and i sent him like 12lb of busted up rock to canada-- the cheep way to send it was when you fill out the customs form only put 1.00 as declared value i think it cost me like 25.00 shipping but if i was to put a higher declared value it would have been alot more

I've sent rock to Canada and to Europe and I have always told customs that it was a gift with no value. I don't know how well that sits with the recipient, but it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

yeh, now they (the Post Office) have to ask you if it's (what you are sending) potentially dangerous, hazardous, flammable, yadda yadda, like you would admit it if you were a terrorist.......sheesh. i answer "only if you drop it on your toe".

KD I'm about a 2-3 hour drive from Kinsgston too, I'm in the National Capital Region (Ottawa). Actually if you got something from Canada to the US it would be cheaper, in the sense that it's in Canadian funds (cheaper for you) as opposed to US funds that are more expensive for us + customs who I think charge for anything - any excuse to get more money!

KD, I knew you would love the Mex Lace. I can't wait to see what you will do with it. And I can't wait until I get the new blade I ordered and the weather is nice enough that I can get some of mine cut.
Tweetie, I am so sorry getting you some didn't work out. I kept thinking if I know someone that lived just hop, skip and jump from the Canadian border, I could send it to them, then they could cross the border and mail it to you. But, I don't know anybody that lives that close and would be willing to do it. Hope the Blue Lace is really nice!
Now I have to decide if I want to keep what I got for you for myself. Been thinking I might put it on eBay. None of the Mex Lace I have seen on eBay is a nice as this. I ordered some a while back and with shipping ended up paying about $8.00/lb and it's not near as pretty as this.

My postoffice clerk here said that if you mark the package as lapidary supplies there should be no customs on it. Shipping is still a little high...but in some cases it's worth it. I sent an eight pound box to Canada a while back and I think it cost around $20 if I remember right. Check with the post office about that customs form and marking it as lapidary supplies....

You guys are all so nice to try to help me! I feel so welcome & wanted! I'm not in such a bad position now - I've got grit being delivered to my work place without the shipping charges (he lives near my work/home) and I'm looking into getting some rocks from Manitoba with pretty decent shipping charges - I'm looking forward to seeing what the rocks look like from them - they have a big pit in their yard. BTW I emptied my last batch out of the tumbler and I have some kind of rock that didn't polish up too well, but there are transparent spots that are kind of purpley/blue that look a little bit like the mexican lace but in blue - blue lace agate maybe? I'll try to post pictures if I can borrow the digital camera from work again! My mom asked me how much the tumbler was from the Manitoba place - maybe she's taking pity on me and will buy me one as a really early present....

Got my box about an hour ago. Had to look even though the tumbler won't be free for another few weeks. I got 3 big rocks, 5 lbs. I'll have plenty off time to break it up before the tumbler is free if my son just gets his car out of the garage Thanks again Llana! That was very nice of you to do this for us. Nancy
