Have any of you installed motion sensor light switches in your homes? I'm a little tired of the kiddies leaving lights on ALL the time and thought these would help conserve energy. I've got one in my office at work and it works great, but thought I'd try to get some additional comments before dropping a few hundred on them. (OK, so I'll probably just buy 1 for $25.00 and test it before go full bore.)
Thanks,
Gaetz

Okay, so I'm a newbie at lighting with motion sensors...but if they're like my porch light, I have to occasionally wave a hand to get it to relight when I'm out at night. My other thought is based on ideas about security systems. There are certain types you have to avoid if you have small animals (cats) or small children. The alarms, or in this case the lights, would go off at odd times.
Is there some tweaking that's been done to the home lighting to avoid these problems?

Yeah we have one in our bathroom off our bedroom. I love it. Scared the crap out of my mom once though. She was house-sitting for us and Sir Lewis likes to drink out of the sink. This sometimes flips the sensor and the light comes on, which woke up mom.

I've seen them at places like Lowes, Menards, etc. It replaces the standard switch on the wall. I think this is what you mean. I have been thinking about getting one or two myself but haven't yet.

It was X10. I think they went bankrupt. And I think some other companies may have better technology now. Our dream is to have a fully automated house when we are in a position to build our own.

That's pretty cool, I had no idea they had them for inhouse switches now course I never pay any attention to those things until they don't turn on. *smile* They'd be great for turning lights off but they'd blind you turning on in the middle of the night.

Yeah that would be bad. I'm thinking of putting them downstairs where the kids mostly play that way when they come up they'll auto shut down.
Hope spring is coming your way soon, Cher.

The only problem with those is if the kids are watching TV and not moving, they'll keep going off on them. Yea right, kids sitting still, what was I thinking!!!
