looks like I am gonna get my gall bladder taken out. Definitive test is in a week.
Mom said if the doc gives me the stones, maybe I could do something with them! I said yeah! I could tumble them! We laughed and laughed. Now you know where I get my weird sense of humor.

Ewww, I wouldn't even want to see the buggers. Sorry I didn't know you hadn't been feeling good, did they do a scan to make 200% sure it was your gall bladder?

My mother hung onto her gallstones for years. Don't know what eventually happened to them. I once thought that if I ever came across them, I might tumble one or two.

hehehe. I go for an ultrasound on wednesday to make sure. But I've had attacks before and doc asked why I never had it out and I said lack of insurance.
My mom warned me that if I get it out, I am gonna wanna test and see what I can eat out and what I need to eat at home, with quick access to the bathroom.

Yes Hawke, you can tumble your Gall stones. I've seen a necklace and earring set that were beautiful! 9 stones in all! BUT, and it's a BIG BUT, it depends on what your stones are made of and if they are hard enough to keep. I've seen stones that were huge, but they were a pasty consistancy. These are usually Cholesterol stones. Other stones were hard as Agates and had such a great Green Jade color that I wished I could have taken them home myself! These were usually the Pigment stones. Now, what I would do if I were you is ask your doctor to save all your stones for you if they are hard as stone. But, if they are pasty in their consistancy I'd just pitch them. But, if they are hard have the O.R. Nurses clean them for you and they'll put them in a speciman containerfor you. So, good luck with your surgery. I hope they do come out ok for you. I forgot to ask, are you having it done via the laprascope? And about the eating biz. I've heard that most people can handle eating anything afterword. Only about 20% of patients will have problems but there are some things that they can do to help. Check out this page where the question was asked: www.mayoclinic.com/health/gallbladder-removal/AN00067Again good luck!

I wish I was into rocks 3 years ago when I had my kidney stones removed. I had a 2.8cmx3.3cm kidney stone that was blasted and removed and those things were hard as agates!

thanks for the info jrtrio! Yeah, if the US comes back positive, I'll get the scope procedure, which is nice because then I'd only need one night in the hospital. When my mom got hers out, it was the old-fashioned way and she was in for 5 days! She has some probs with foods. She says she can eat them but they go right thru her.
I bet the surgeon looks at me weird when I tell him I want my stones if they are hard.

There is NO info out there on the moh of gallstones. Hawke, I believe you may be on the cusp of a real break through here.

Well, the ultrasound came back ok and I am now just dealing with the usual indigestion. My bloodwork came back though and I am now being treated for hypothyroidism which probably explains why I am so damn tired all the time, and cold. So no tumbling gall stones!
