Found this site and thought it was pretty neat. Type in your address and it shows map and how much your house is worth. www.zillow.com/

Whoah dude! I just bought my home last year, I have doubled! That is without the complete remodel I have been doing. Way cool. With the business thrown in, I am a big shot! I do not feel like a big shot, in fact I feel like my work definately needs improvement. It must be the baby boomers. They are like the yuppies in the 80's. They will buy anything. That was fun. In fact, I drive a 1986 Chevy van, and my wife has a 1987 suburban. Maybe I should get a Mercedes!

It is definitely showing on the higher end of worth. Tax postcard appraises our house and land at around $275k. House needs SOME work but is definitely livable. We are probably going to need to re-roof soon, just because this roof is getting up there in age. MAYBE, we'd pull $300k or so. DEFINITELY not the $364k Zillow says.

Well, evidently if you don't live in the Albequerque or Santa Fe area in NM, your house isn't worth profiling.

it couldn't give me a "zestimate" but it does have most of the info and the tax value of the house, which is kind of scary. my parents house wasn't in the database (they live in a very old farmhouse).
intersting site tho, thanks for the link!

My buddy showed me this site a couple of weeks ago. I thought for our area the prices were about right for the information that was available, tax rolls and recent sales. I can't imagine gathering the data for every house in the United States because the data is stored at the county level rather than state or national level (at least in California). So.. if I was the developer of this project, I would concentrate on Metro areas with the largest population bases to appeal to the largest proportion of the population possible. Hence, the smaller towns would not be shown.

Yes, I'm fairly sure that it's only at the county level here, too. They show my house on the map and satelite views but no value info. I found my mother's house in suburban Chicago and all the value info was there. It's the same house I grew up in and it's been in the family since 1947.

OMG... my brother works for that company, lol... helped set that database up somehow. Give them time if your house didn't show... it's been up less than a month.

Pretty amazing but I don't know how accurate. They didn't have the right info on my home. It's listed as a single story and shorted me 1,000 sq ft. If it's right, mine has increased over $70,000 in the 2 yrs we've lived here. Oh, well, it's pretty interesting but am still skeptical.

Accurate or not, it's an amazing piece of technology that we would never have imagined a few years ago. I love being able to zoom in on local areas around here. I've always wondered where this road or that went to, or what old logging roads there are beyond my property.
