When I was youngster playing hockey all over the US and Canada, it was customary to trade team pins w/ your opponents. Since then, I've really enjoyed collecting Olympic pins. My brother went to the Los Angeles Games and brought me back some pins from there. I've got Olympic pins from Lake Placid 80, LA 84, Moscow 80, Sarajevo 84, Calgary 88, Seoul 88, Atlanta 96, Nagano 98, and mostly Salt Lake 2002. Some of the pins I have are pretty rare and valuable but I'd never sell them. I need to get on Ebay and pick up a couple of hockey pins from Torino to keep the collection going. Anyway, it's a lot of fun. This first pict has 4 pins in the upper left hand corner that were original Salt Lake Bid pins. After Salt Lake won the games they changed their logo to a snowflake logo. The first one in the upper left is dated 1998 when Salt Lake barely lost the bid. They learned from their mistakes and bribed their way to victory in 2002!!!! In this 2nd pict, the entire 3rd row contains pins from the teams I played against in the United States Hockey League (upper midwest) in the late '80's. Anybody else here collect trading pins? Gaetz

That is quite the collection! My other hobby is baseball cards, especially Edgar Martinez cards. My dream is to get all 1700 of his.
My nephew is a hockey nut. He'll turn 10 this year. He had to stop playing last year because he was having some orthopedic problems. He was an all-star goalie tho!
That little kid can spout off stats and players like nobody's business!

My kids collect San Jose Sharks Hockey pins. Actually, this is their prize when I go to a hockey game. I also got them a Sharks banner, so after a game the pin goes on banner.

Gaetz - I dont know anything about that sport - but thats a nice looking collection.
They need to be behind glass in a cabinet? - maybe a spotlight across them?
Nice collection for sure.
