Spent from 8-10 this morning at the Toyota dealership having my truck serviced. Had them look at a *brand new* $170.00 front tire 'cuz it's been losing air. My mechanic told me there was a 3" nail in the sidewall and it would have to be replaced 'cuz it wasn't repairable. Spent another 2 hours at Costco while they replaced the *brand new* $170.00 tire, balanced and rotated all the rest. Spent an hour at the IRS building waiting in line just to get a frigging tax form. This is the first year of my working life that they haven't sent me one. Spent the last 3 hours combing my neighborhood looking for my cat 'cuz he was MIA and I thought he had sneaked outside when I took the trash out. Came home and found him in a drawer. I know we're all stuck in the stone age here, but you need to start filing online.

You're absolutely right, Toad. I tried filing online last week. I file 1040 EZ - I live in New Mexico and I'm over 50 years old...went to the IRS website and couldn't find anyplace to file FOR FREE that met my criteria.
But then I'm a technologically challenged Baby Boomer.

Yeah, the IRS did away with telefile this year. That's what I've done the last few years, too, John. S

That way I don't have to figure it out.

Ya know susan, it's just not the day of the full moon, it's the 48hrs before and after the exact point of the full moon you have to be watchful of. Maybe you should go hide in the drawer with your cat!

$170 Per tire? What freakin size are they? My wife toyota tires (16 inchers) where only $100 per tire- But I dou love that nail in the sidewall thing- Now HOW the hell do you get a nail in the sidewall? ?? Susan the IRS frigged our tax forms up too- We file the same way every year- and this year they forgot the one form we really needed- Went to the website to download it- Took over an hour (dialup you know)- Well at least Kitty is ok

kitty knew it was a good day to hide...funny, my poor old kitty has been holed up under my bed the past few days...maybe she is trying to tell us something?
bad moon rising?
i must admit after struggling for years trying to do our own taxes, i finally hired an accountant, what a relief. load all the pertinent documents up into an envelope and poof...no stress, no headache, no worries. the refund arrives in the mail and if there ever IS a problem, it's NOT MY FAULT!

Stefan - I put a set of BF Goodrich All Terrain 8 ply TAs on my Tacoma last October 'cuz I'm on dirt and rock more than pavement, and, yeah, they're 16 inchers. Lookin' at my invoice *from Costco* and it was nearly $700. Price went up this year, and the replacement tire was $179.00, but I only had to pay $13.00 'cuz of my road hazard warranty.

We need a tax accountant. Back in 2000, the IRS said my wife earned over $600k. There was NO WAY IN HELL she earned $600 working at microsnot. Mind you, she did cash out some stock but nowhere near that. Ends up she reported on the right forms, but then the IRS went and counted the 1098 twice, thereby upping her income to the stratosphere (if only! Then I wouldn't have to finagle a way to get my grinder!). So we need an accountant to tell the IRS they screwed up. Yeah, we pay about $500 for a set for tires. Les Schwab may be a right wing fundie but he knows about customer service. If you have a Les Schwab there, I highly recommend them. They even fixed a tire for me that I hadn't purchased there. Well, at least your cat wasn't this poor kitty.
