I just completed stripping and refinishing this antique Mahogany Drum table for a neighbor of my in-laws. I'm guessing it was made in the late '20's or early '30's. I should have taken a before picture because it was in pretty bad shape. It took some work but it was well worth the effort because they just don't make furniture like they did 80 years ago. The grain in the top is gorgeous. So whether it's rocks or wood, you just can't beat Mother Nature for beauty. Ed

Hey Ed, I've got one that's very close to that. Looks the same except mine has a drawer in it. That looks great! Nice work.

Ooooooooooo gorgeous! You did a beautiful job Ed. Being a woodworker, you don't happen to have any books on old furniture do you? I've got this really neat oooollllllddddd table that folds flat. It's a game table with a checkerboard painted on the top of it. I'd love to find out how old it is.

Wow the shine!!!! I suppose you used 50 K paste on it (J/K) Nice job on that- that must have been a common table because my parents have one- but with a drawer in it also.

That is a gorgeous table! Did you have to remove the metal accents to refinish it or did you work around them?

Thanks everyone. This table does have a drawer in it. I guess I didn't use the photo that showed the front. Oops! This table was stained really dark too, so dark that you couldn't even see the grain. I removed all the hardware and the finish actually looked pretty good underneath it, so I was probably the first to refinish it. Cher, send me a pic of your table and I'll see if I can find anything on it

That is stunning work stoner. No - they dont make it like they used to 80 years ago - i see that over here too.
Lovely colour and stunning sheen.
Thanks for the pic of your work.
Mark.

Thanks Mark. True craftsmen are a dying breed. Most furniture these days is mass produced and made to fall apart so we have to keep buying new junk. Me, I'll take an old piece and refinish it any day over buying new crap.

Ed, I don't know what the "before" image was like, but the "after" is really beautiful.
