Although I pretty much expected everything to go smoothly, I just came from my dissertation defense. All members gave the highest marks.
Now I can devote more serious attention to rocks!

Um, Dan - BTW - what was your dissertation on? And what are you a Dr of? Congrats! Now you get to pay for it. ;D S Title: Applied Polytomous Factor Models: Specification, Invariance Testing, and Measurement Issues I'm getting the degree in Human Development from the college of Health and Human Development. I have made a study of some of the statistical issues in distinguishing true change/growth over time from measurement biases that only present the appearance of change. But, what will I pay for now? Do you mean student loans? Or, choices in life? Roads not taken? LOL.

Allright Dr. Dan! And to think we knew you before the fame and fortune. You got a shingle to put outside your office? Naw. No shingle. The only clients I'll see will need consultations on research methods or models of personnality change. I got one tomorrow involving a time series study of physiological signals (i.e., heart, balance) from kids with ADHD performing an attending task. I'll need to brush up on my signal processing. Fortunately there is an even deeper consultant who will program the time-series model. I just need to take delivery, run it for 25 different kids, and help my boss write up the findings. So the door will say, "402C - Daniel Bontempo". - Kinda sad, but folks around here don't use the "Dr." on the door. But hey, it is enough that the lunch delivery guy finds me. Later p.s. - when do I get the fortune?

Hmm, they usually want me as a subject for personnality change. Hope we DON'T meet professionally. You could change your middle name to Richard. Then the sign on your door could read D.R. Bontempo! On a small shingle.

YEAH DANIEL!
Wish I could understand the explaination you wrote about your field! (Us common folk sometimes get confused) At any rate, I admire anyone who can spend such an enormous amount of time and effort to achieve a goal like yours. Too many times we try something that takes tenacity only to give up cause "it's too hard!" Be proud of your accomplishment!
Sincerely...Liz
