last weekend when we went to the arts and crafts festival we came home with hermit crabs . i don't know how they relate to arts and crafts but that's what we came home with. sam has been ticked off for over a week, went into pouting and refused to come out. i've been trying to leave him be and let him work it out but i'm not real good at that so i got a hamster ball and put him out in general population. nothing like having 4 cats staring into your hamster ball to motivate you to get going. i got some grapes today for him and that did the trick. he came out for that. he's got a grape here going in for 2nds i'll have to show y'all cocoa when she comes out sometime. she does come out but late at night when i cut all the lights off. then i'll catch her playing in the water and slinging the 2 extra shells around. kim

Cool new pets Kim! Thanks for posting pics too. Better read up on them, you never know what you might learn... I thought I knew alot about my venus flytraps until I did some more in depth reading about them & this year mine are doing better than ever because of some simple changes I made! If you provide an ideal environment and they have the proper diet and provisions, they should live a long happy life and keep you looking for newer bigger shells for them every now & then. You have to give them several to choose from and they will only accept the best. I like the way the shell matches the body so nicely in the pics. I bet they really go for that! Amoung all of my other talents, I spent a good chunk of my younger years working at a few different pet stores so I became sort of an expert on most common exotic animals.

i'm reading lcars and found a hermit crab forum so i can bug those folks like i bug y'all lol. i've found several things i need that i don't have and have no access to locally as we have no pet shop and walmart doesn't carry hermit crab supplies. i've got to get a different type top to keep the humidity level at 70%, i need a humidity gauge, possibly a heater, i need climbing rope, more sand, calcium things, and lots and lots of shells the proper size (already bugging stoner to find shells for cocoa lol).
joe i can't just let them run loose or my cats will eat them right up. so the hamster ball makes them like the boy in the bubble lol.

New shells . . . hamster balls ? . . . climbing rope ? In the good ol' days you went to the doc for crabs, not the vet.
