Yep, assemble a truck in two days, running and driveable. ;D This is the second time that I've done this, except that the cab was removed from one truck and put on the other with no help...... Here's the cab from my GMC longbed.... Here's the shortbed frame and stepside bed, the engine was replaced with my 350...... Here's the cab being set on the short frame... Made possible with the biggest oak tree in Virginia Beach and a chain hoist Here she sits! Bed installed.... Here's "my engine" ready to go in... Installed and hooked up.... Here she is!! I have installed the bumpers since this pic was taken, she runs great and even has brakes! ;D lol Ooops, almost forgot....yes, she will get painted this summer. I do all my own paint and bodywork as well.

Holy crap, Randy!!! You is fast!! That is going to be a nice ride. Not too many of the step side trucks around any more, at least here in Michigan. Rotton road salt seems to eat up cars faster than people can pay them off. Nice job! Bill

Thanks! I started on my wife's stepside about six years ago. Her's will be a "show and go" truck. Mine will just be a very nice worktruck when finished. Pho- probably black and white two-toned but still haven't decided. My wife's truck will be white with teal flames over black reversed scallops.

Step sides RULE!!! I love em. Hey, how come with the nose off and cab off, you didn't go BBC? 3.43 rear, TH400, 468 cu., fuel injection, gear drive cam, roller lifters, rockers, flowed, printed, jammin!!!! SBC ok too. I just like cubes. I bet she gonna look sweeeeeet. The round noses are the best models.

Holy smokes! I'm going to show my husband. He's building a car in our basement. From scratch. I have a feeling it might take a touch longer than a weekend. I'm going to use your photos to inspire him!

Holy smokes!! That is awesome, Randy! I vote for candy apple red. My dad had a sweet candy apple red ford bronco with a white top and with glass packs. I heard him coming a mile away!!

Hmmm Randy- I like the idea of a very understated black and white- Kinda retro stock- My 1 ton is the silver and maroon 2 tone and it is not to overstated or show wanna be- I mean if you want a show truck- build a show truck- but for a nice work truck i think Suttle is the way to go (but oh baby can I see that truck all classed up with a nice mettalic blue with white accents-) Oh nice job on that so far- Geeze we never see any stepsides around here anymore- the salt eats em up too quickly (you can't even think of driving the older stuff until mid June- as the salt residue takes Several real good downpours to completly wash away!)

I see metalflake candy olive drab, with black highlights! Layering the metalflake with clear coat and hand rubbing inbetween. Deep, deep metalflake. Should look cool, and, in case we have to run from the Electricals the truck will blend in. No one would notice a deep metalflake olive drab stepside, especially with gear drive cam, roller rockers, dual plane performer manifold, duals with crossover. Nope, blend right in. Navy blue Corinthian leather interior. Ought to blend right in.
