Got me to thinking .........( Which can be dangerous , sometimes ha ha) After seeing this link, and my weed eater takes a saw blade for brush...... well...... could be dangerous but fun! Any volunteers to hold the rock? www.lakeneosho.org/SLIP2.htmlBe Well Dracco & Rockpup

seems like it would be hard to cut perfectly straight and not bend and dish the blade. even if you had the rock vised in some manner, how would you keep yourself from moving around with the blade?

Beats carrying a huge boulder home when all you want is a slab! ;D Looks dangerous as hell though!

Well, from the blade guard up it is a standard Ryobi weed eater. It cost $180-$230. How does it get to be $495 w/o the blade?
I would use this mainly to notch rocks for splitting with a chisel and hammer.

Scary, the designer is SLIP. Not a word you would like to include in this type of saw!
SLIP! "My leg!" SLIP! "Earthdog's leg!" (hey ,why are we picking on Edog!?!? Hee hee!)
I have used handheld concrete saws (like a big chain saw but with a blade) to cut curbs with and they are freaky enough for me!

I have a concrete saw that I use to cut up large stones so I can slab 'em on the tile saw. Works pretty well I guess..it's certainly not good for making precise cuts but it's better than using a hammer. I just hold the rock with my feet! It's a little nerve wracking but I haven't been hurt yet! Next time I cut some up I'll post some pics...
Oh BTW - Home Depot rents tools...including tile saws!!! May be worth checking into for those without the means to cut up large stones for slabbing....

way cool- I have a 4 cycle Roybi weed wacker already- all I need is the blade- (hint- they use the quick link attachment to rotate the blade- pretty simple concept) Earth- when you come over to hold the rock- bring the blade with ya- I have the dust masks all set!
