This week marks the 15 hundredth week that Pink Floyd's album; "Dark Side of the Moon" has been on Billboard's ablum charts. DSM has never left the list since it's debut in 1973 and has sold an estimated 40 million copies world wide.
Incredible!!!

A milestone indeed! Going to fire up the Sears Craftsman 8 track and play DSM! 8 Track tape and player are 1973 originals, still working! Now if they could talk the story's they could tell!

Oh, yeah. I remember getting Dark Side of the Moon, putting it on my phonograph, turning on the equalizer, plugging in the headphones. I had just dropped some windowpane, and during the first song, it kicked in....... I had left the record arm open. That way the tone arm would cycle back to the first part when the album was done on that side...... I WAS TRAPPED IN MY HEADPHONES! I couldn't move...... I thought I was in a tunnel and at the end was God..... Then the last song ended. I couldn't breathe, I was remembering when Alice Cooper threw the chicken back into the crowd and they dismembered it. And the album started again. I couldn't move, I saw chicken parts flopping around the room, the headphones had me captive! I was back in the tunnel, falling. The album side ended. I was out of breathe. I felt like a vise was on my head. Then the album started again! I felt the room spinning, chicken parts flopping everywhere, my skin was falling off my hands, my feet were falling over my head. I had been laying down preparing for music like Innagadavida. Whoah Dude! I did not even know Who Syd Barret, David Gilmore, Roger Waters, Nick Mason even were! I ended passing out, still looking through the window. I was incarnated a Floyd Zoid. It was even better than total Elvisness!, not that I ever listened to that, Houses of the Holy..... second place. I'm Your Captain, ehhhh, I was a Floyd Zoid from the inside out. I made a pair of earrings for David's wife, and he invited me to Dirty Harry's in Key West. He had a suprise appearance just for hars. I sat next to Nick, Richard, and David came out and played Comfortably Numb solo on a 12 string. The wall had not even been released yet! There was absolutely no one in the room, and he let go! It was awsome. I have met a lot of guitarists, I personally think David is perhaps the best going. Period. We sat, we chatted a bit, it was great. Richard is hysterical! I almost lost lunch laughing. Long Live the Floyd!

wow....ok, so i went to Roger Waters side after the break.......(what God wants God Gets).....but i am still stuck in the almost (dare i say it?) orgasmic guitar solos of Wish You Were Here and Animals...UmmaGumma didn't do it for me, Stoner.
Vera...Vera...what has become of you? does anyone else in here feel the way i do.. Long Live Floyd, Long Live Doc!

The first time I heard Albatross, it was the filming Live At Pompeii. It was in the then new surround sound, no Dolby yet, But, I was headed out the window, as usual, and the song still haunts me. Long Live Syd Barret! My exwife chose to tell me she had cheated on me during Pink Floyd the Wall, movie. She did it with an upcoming rock star, and the song I wrote is still on the charts, she gave it to him without asking me, during Mama. I was doing some Panama herbs, and was into the Floyd. Pink calling his wife jogged her memory and she blurted it out. But even though I slipped, I eventually was comforted by the Floyd. There can be but one Floyd. Floyd was there all along. I just lost sight. Forgive me, I had lost the Floyd, but they were there all along. Comfortably Numb was my solace, Shine on you Crazy Diamond was my inspiration, Rick Wakeman, he was just there trying to get my attention, easy to dust off. It was the Floyd all along.

There were several, One was The Garden, the other City Lights. I lost my heart for music after that and it was just a matter of time.

Doc - My wife said something the other night and it just clicked... We are all served by our experiences whether we percieve (or more accurate to say how we judge an experience) them as good, bad or indifferent. I suppose that the real trick to it all is to just live in the moment...can be the easiest thing to do and at the same time the hardest thing to do. I would think that if we could truly accomplish living in each moment, moment to moment then time itself would cease to exist....
Thanks for your candid posts Doc... Namaste.

Its a balancing act. If I hadn't done what I did, I wouldn't be where I am, if where I was was such a great place I would still be there. However, some of the things I learned carry me through the tough times today, if I made it then, than why can I not make it now, and do it better this time. I think it is pride. Putting Resentment Into Direct Effect that prevented me from passing on what I hated worst when I didn't mean to. We do not learn from our successes, it is our mistakes that give us a legacy, and something to grow from. Tomorrow will be whether I am here or not. Might just as well hang on and see what happens next.
