Sorry to hear you didn't get the all clear yet. Keep up the attack until the all-clear is sounded.

You've come this far....no use is quitting now. Go for it..get it over with. The only guarantee in life is that not all rocks will come out with a perfect shine on the first tumble...so this is a do-over. Hang in there Cher....you know you got friends...

You don't know how much it means to read this, it definitely gives me lots of encouragment. *smile* I love it Pho, this is just a do-over. When I'm done with this I know I'll be shining. I'm much better today, yesterday was just such a shock after thinking I was done. Going in this morning for the MRI so that little part will be over with.
Gaetz ... Yes, I've been to Montana, I love it out there. I so wanted to go hunting for Montana moss agates. My brother wants us to come out in the middle of July but I don't know if I can handle the heat.

that purely sucks, Cher, so sorry to hear of this setback. what is the new schedule...when will the treatments be over? Montana will still be there in the fall and it will be cooler too.
i've always wanted to see Montana, promise you'll take bunches of pics when you go.
again, sorry that this is putting a crimp in your wire, but i'm sure things will be much better after you are finally done. sounds like your doctor is a perfectionist, but i guess i'd like to be 100% sure too, even if the chemo bites.
love ya, girlfriend,
KD

I had an MRI today but I suppose I won't find anything out until I see the oncologist again probably around the 31st of May. He told me he's talking to a few other doctors concerning what he saw in the PET scan to get their opinions on the radiation. The thing I'm wondering about is how long do I have to get it, I know some radiation treatments can last up to six weeks. Ok Susan, I'll expect pics of this load to be ready when I'm all done. Can't wait to see what you put in there after seeing pics of that red stuff, it's amazing.

Cher, I am going to have to agree with the general concensus here and tell you to get your head back in the game and fight! I know you are tired! Tired of treatments tired of not knowing, but this is beatable and you want to be strong enough to enjoy the enitrity of your recovery.
My gramps was the strongest man I ever knew, he was a first class diver/frog man in the Navy for 23 years. Fought in Korea and Vietnam, swam with sharks you name it. When he got Throat Cancer, he started taking the pain pills the Dr had given him but being a recovering alcoholic those were soon not enough. He took up to 100 Tylenol 3's a day at one point. These worked to an extent for the pain but they took away his fight. Obviously his health deteriorated, he wasn't eating or taking care of himself in any fashon. They were able to kill the cancer but he didn't have any fight left to recover let alone enjoy that victory.
Sory for that, but my message is let the Dr's do their thing because they are good at it, but you don't forget to take care of you at the same time! Rely on your friends! We will pray for you.
Peace, SSSSpaceman SSSpliff

Kim: I don't know for sure but because the chemo goes after fast growing cells, it could be affecting the bone marrow some. But he's worried about the possibility that the cancer, being it was a fast growing aggressive cancer could have gotten into the bone marrow ... this is why he wants the radiation. I don't honestly know if they saw this on the PET scan or not but being that he isn't sure, that's why he wants the radiation ... as back up insurance to kill all the cancer cells.
Jim ... don't say your sorry. It's true and hearing things like you said about your Grandpa just give me more reason to get in there and fight.
Thank you all for being my support and strength.
Cher

I meant to wish you well earlier Cher, but most days I come here to the board to get away from the C word. Sounds like you have a very thorough doctor. Keep up the fighting spirit.

My oncologist just called me so I found a little more about what's going on (I blame it on my insurance). They would normally do the first PET scan as an outpatient before a person begins chemo treatment. The insurance will not pay to have the PET scan while you are in the hospital so we had to wait because the doctor wanted me in the hospital immediately. I had my first one four days after I started the chemo.
This problem they are seeing in the bones ... they saw this on the first scan also but because I had already had one treatment, they can't comepletely rule it out that the chemo caused it. He's having the filmes sent to him and he's taking them to another radiologist for a second opinion but right now, it looks like I'll be having radiation for three weeks (15 treatments) after the chemo.
