My husband had what we thought was "nothing" removed from his face. A small bump. The doctor said he really didn't think it was anything and if he didn't call in 10 days, assume everything is ok. Well, I got the call today, husband is at work and he didn't put anyone down on his HIPPA form. They couldn't say anything except it's not terribly bad, but they do have to do more work. I can't even get a hold of him to tell him to call until he gets home!! Just reaching out to my new family for some strong thoughts and prayers. I'm praying that it really isn't anything bad, but you know the thought of "not terribly bad" means.
Thank you.

How agonizing it must be to have to wait to find out! Keep your thoughts positive and keep busy while waiting.

Thank you all for all your prayers and thoughts. We found out this morning that it is Basal cell carcinoma which we were told if you get cancer, this is the one you want. Ok, what the hell kind of explaination is that?! No one wants to hear something like that. Let me first say that I absolutely HATE when a doctors office will not answer a message on a machine!! When my husband got home from work, he called, was told he would be put into the doctors voice mail and would get a call back...YESTERDAY. No call back!! I couldn't imagine being in their position, seeing their little freakin' message light on their phone, then going home!! We couldn't sleep at all last night. I have to do research on this, but from what I've seen already, it has a 95% cure rate and is the most common of cancer.
Again, thank you all for your prayers. It is wonderful knowing that we have all of you to lean on in times like this. I beg each and every one of you to take care of yourselves. Look up the pictures of Basal cell carcinoma because he had it for almost a year and didn't know what it was. The earlier they detect, the better. **Sorry for all the ranting about the office. I had to get it off my chest.

OK...doctors can be buttheads at times. Seems like they want everthing to go their way. They want you to be on time and to call etc but they can't or won't return the respect due a patient. Now....the cancer can be cured. That is good. Do what you need to do to get this taken care of and don't put it off like a lot of people do. We are here for ya any time you need to vent, rant, rave. or just to talk.

Don't worry too much. I have had 20 or 30 Basel cells removed over the years and so has my husband. Most of them are pretty harmless and can be removed very easily. I have had some that I ignored for years and then had removed with no problems. I only had one that came up on my chin that was really growing fast and had to go to a plastic surgeon to have cut out and removed. Most of them can just be burnt or frozen off. Good luck to you both. Trish

Doctors are pains- but it comes from the God Complex- they get to play God way to often- for some the ultimate power corrupts ultimately! But tell your hubby to take care of himself!

Ok, what the hell kind of explaination is that?! No one wants to hear something like that. Hey Beech, YES you do want to hear that, it's much better than hearing that you have a cancer that can't be cured. That's what they told me too about my lymphoma. There's many different kinds of lymphoma, I was lucky to get one that is cureable. I know it sounds terrible, but think about and be very happy you heard that. Be strong now, you'll be ok and so will your hubby. I've known many who have had them removed with no problem at all.

Thank you all again. It feels better to talk about this with strangers (well, not strangers, our "extended family!!) than our own friends. It's good to hear other people who have had treatment and know of those that have. Cher, you are right. It is better to hear that it is curable. Just at the time, being 34 and actually saying "I have cancer" was and is very hard for my husband. Like I said, everyone should check themselves out for this. It says 1 in 5 people will have it. That is just frightening!!

It doesn't get any easier saying when your 52, I don't think that's easy for anyone to say. What are they going to do now? Have they set a date to remove it yet? Don't wait around, bug the hell out of them to get going on things.
Tell your hubby we're all pulling for him (and you too) and not to worry (I know, easier said than done).

They are doing the rest of the "work" on the 24th. That was the earliest he can get in. They said they have to go deeper and will require stitches. No, I don't think it would be easy for anyone at any age to hear they have cancer. The word alone is frightening. Thank you Cher. It seems that everyone on this board who has had this creep of an illness had positive results in the long run. I'm pulling for you too. Have any research sites you use? This one I found today. www.skincancer.org/

I've browsed around the American Cancer Society site www.cancer.org/docroot/home/index.asp and did some searching on lymphoma but there's so many different kinds it's unreal. Just the name for mine was daunting "Diffused large cell B cell phenotype lymphoma" ... each thing means something else that all comes together to identify the type of treatment they needed to use. *smile* I'm a regular old toxic waste dump now. You know, sometimes it's really not all that good to do too much searching, it can scare the hell out of you and you really need to pay attention to what the doctor says. And if your not comfortable, don't be afraid to get a second opinion.

Basal is very curable, but very destructive if not take care of immediately. It can really eat up a lot of your face, nose etc. if not taken of. I'm sure you'll get the best care you can and make sure it's all of.
Good luck and keep us posted.
