i was intrigued that there were such a division in names, the hard molten male names and the soft feminine dancing-reaching names, too. i tried to give counsel to each faction. and no, i couldn't quite do the random thing in picking. it is interesting what we see in the stones. but we all see something. that is SO the good part! winner will be decided upon saturday at 8pm, thanks again for admiring this stone. and apologies for those that entered a name but didn't get chosen, they were all good names. hopefully there will be a new contest on offer soon. i'm hoping to get in the basement again soon and can't wait to see what llana comes up with. remember, i'm still practising, so my cabs aren't as nice as Sands, but i'm trying. Krazy, you are off to a good start with your cabs. I would love to see you do intarsia. I will walk you through the entire thing if you want. I tried and tried and tried to vote, I got so frustrated I took my teeth out and drooled! Then I looked at the side of the post and saw the vote points. I was trying to vote on the wrong part of the post. Like duh, fer sher, you know, like totally! Oh well. I guess, when they took my teeth the chips went into the Hazmat spirit stealer. Oiy Vey Hary! Good work, that agate is hard to polish under good circumstances. Lookin goo.

Doc, i am SO wanting to learn intarsia..i know that is my true calling.
meanwhile, my metal arts classes are going great! i am learning about annealing and the pickle (all terms i had no clue about two weeks ago!)
i am dead jealous about Kim's new covington!
the instructor finally twigged about my conversations with the other classmates and finally asked "are you a Lapidary?".. and i must say it gave me a little tingle to say, "um, yeh, i am!"
i cut stone, i shape stone, i am a lapidary! whoo hoo! whoo hoohoo, whoo hoo, whoo hoohoo. got my tin foil hat on and it's here to stay!

Rock on you Krazy Diamond. All you need to do intarsia is a straight grind. For pickle, instead of using Sparex, go to Walmart and use Pool PH Reducer. Same stuff, 1/3 cost. Remeber, no ferrous tools in the pickle it turns the pickle into a plating agent. Only copper, high stainless steel, silver, gold. Go slow with the gold, it absorbs sodium bicarbonate and will pit when soldered.

KD, I need a pic of the tin foil hat. There's a prize involved... ;D I'm seriously thinking of taking a silver smithing class next summer at Young Harris NC school not far from here. It's not expensive and it's a room and board thing. Of course, there's allways those little extras.. "T.P.? Of course! For a small fee..."

kd i haven't seen anything you've tried that you have not shown talent at. i feel certain you could conquer the intarsia if you try it. i put a pic of that saw up. sure would like to see some action inside of it . kim

and the WINNER is IOWAHOUND for his great name of "Amber Waves". which personally i thought was a great combination of entendre, (a lady (Amber) waving, the waves in the stone itself and the resemblence to a grain of wheat germinating).
good name!
send me your snail mail addy Iowa via IM or email (krazydiamond@ragingbull.com), i polished the reverse side today and can mail it out on monday.
if i don't hear from you in 7 days, Tiny Dancer will be the default winner.
look for my next kraztcab shortly!
thanks again for a great game!

Congrats Iowa. Krazy's stones will bring you luck. She has just begun. One day you can say you have one of her first ones. Congrats, even though you beat me. Sands and Krazy are doing awsome. Who is next?
