Ben Roethlisberger (Steelers QB, in case you didn't know) was in a motorcycle accident yesterday. Wasn't wearing a Helmut while on his crotch rocket. Broke nose, face fractures, knee injuries, etc. No news on who was really to blame, but I'm sure it will leak out soon enough. Something about a 62 year old woman pulled out in front of him. Gossip is going around that he may be fined by the Steelers themselves for not wearing the Helmut!?
Just wondering how far news like this travels? Being in the [glow=red,2,300]Superbowl[/glow] and all....

Think I saw something about that on the news ticker earlier today. Those are bad wheels to not be wearing a helmut on.

Saw the article today in the local paper. There was a picture of the bike and it was pretty messed up. It's a wonder that he wasn't hurt worse than that!?! I can never understand why people don't wear helmets, should be like the seat belt laws-manditory. Would save alot of lives.

Being local to Pittsburgh, this incident swamped the news for a few days. If some didnt know , he broke his jaw (operated on it I believe), sprained both knees, and got a few pretty big cuts to his head from going through the Windshield head first. Lady ran a red light, Bens was green. And get this.. those dang New England fans... the car had Maine license plates. Also heard Tommy Maddoxs' agent called the Steelers to see if they wanted him back !!! ummm NO . This is just from the news, so who knows how factual it is

Let's all wish for the best for Ben and hope he will recover from this accident.
Ben accident was big news nationally...Lots of states have rescinded manditory helmut laws over the past decade including Pa.; this will slow or reverse that trend.
Very strange but something as big as a motorcycle can be invisible when you are expecting a car or truck. At this point it doesn't really matter who is to blame; Ben is injured regardless of whether he was the victim or not. Not much satisfaction in knowing you are right but your career may be over.
My guess is the Steelers may want to fine or suspend him, but he is the Superbowl MVP so those chances are slim and none..
Lots of outward outpouring of sympathy for poor Ben; lots of private chuckles and smug , "what a fool Ben is" from Superbowl wannabe towns and I told you so (about riding a motorcycle without a helmut) types.

Sorry but Helmets save lives- I feel bad that he thought he was so invincable- and I know a lot of you ride (some without helmets) But I find it hard to feel sorry for someone who just does not use proper precations- It also make me mad about that people are not MORE aware of the bikes!!! I'm always on the lookout for our 2 wheeled freinds!!!!

I heard the guy was lucky he was not killed. Might be the end of his career though
