Never done it yet, but be careful. There seems to be a large discrepency in what people are selling as "Jade". I also hate to say it, but that is one of the rocks that may best be tumbled with Chrome Oxide.

i got a block of extremely dark jade given to me as a gift. i sawed it into nice preformed pieces, tried to cab a few, tumbled the rest. even bought 10 bucks worth of chrome oxide to polish it (cuz i just KNEW it was going to be beautiful). it sucked. never got it to shine. very disappointing.
i got it in a jar of "maybe someday try again"? but even cabbing it, i couldn't get it right.
i think there is a huge variation in jade just like jasper.
and agate.
i swore to stick with the harder stones after that.

kd if you got the jade cabs finished and they wouldnt shine up i bet if you get some of the M-5 polish from cyberrockhound.com it would polish up nice with a leather pad or belt-- i couldnt get my sodalite to shine up and i told brian about it and he said try this and he even sent me some to try out for free and i gotta say he was right it puts a blinding shine on sodalite and that was the hardest stone i found so far to try and shine---if you dont wanna buy it send me one of your cabs and ill try and polish it and send it back then you can see if its worth the price
