www.petloss.com is good. Tributes stay there forever. I have one in 1998 and another in 2001, still there. We wish you the best.

Now I'm getting misty eyed here at work. Losing a pet, no matter which way, is so hard. They are part of the family. Only fellow pet lovers can understand. I had to put my cat down a few years ago (my first time) and what a terrible feeling that was. But I knew she wasn't suffering anymore. We had a little "funeral" in the backyard with my daughters and my mom, planted flowers on her grave. Also lost a couple of dogs when they were both hit by a car at the same time. I personally believe that we will see our pets again when it's our time to go. Pets are a gift from God (nature, or whatever you believe in). There's not many humans in this world that will love you UNCONDITIONALLY like your dog does! Take care......

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your opinions and advice. Cher, my hubby asked me if they could come to the car and I said no...I didn't think they would, but I will ask them. It would be easier than walking him in and carrying him out. This is his last week with us and I am spending every last minute I can with him. I feel so guilty that I didn't treat every day of his like his last. But then, I don't think he would have had so much fun thru the years he's been with us. I'll try to post a picture of my dog-son.

Awww, Fugger is a cute fella. Looks like he's really good with little ones too. I'm so sorry you have to go through this. We're all here for ya! Give Fugger a hug from us.

Beech - I restarted this reply several times and nothing I write seems appropriate. I'm really feeling your pain here..Fugger looks just like my first Boxer, Murphy. Some may think that our pets don't meet us on the other side but I think they do...after all how could it be heaven without ALL of our loved ones there to be with us?
Saying a prayer for you and Fugger so that you may be given strength and courage.
Dan

Thank you Dan and the rest of the rth members who have prayed for Fugger and I. I had to do the torturous task of putting him to sleep yesterday. He just didn't have the will anymore and I couldn't be selfish and keep him around for my own sake. I know he is at the rainbow bridge waiting playfully till the day we cross together. I thought today would be a better day, but the house just seems empty without him. I thought I actually heard him scratch at the door today...I guess it's just my mind wishing. But thanks again for all of you sharing your stories and offering prayers. They do help tremendously!!

For those we have lost, but remember in our hearts! I am so sad to read this news. I wanted you to know I know how special your companion meant to you. I feel your sadness too. I've felt it many times, and will feel it many more times. I would just do it all over again. I couldn't imagine life without our animal companions. We put ourselves through it for all the unconditional love they give us in return. If your tears could build a ladder, I know you would walk right up to heaven and bring him home again! Sigh. You will feel him and hear him for awhile as he is still there watching over you. He will stay for as long as it takes until he knows you will be okay. You will hear him bark, you will hear his steps. He is there but you just can't see him. He is on the other side of the rainbow now and you will meet again one day when the time is right. When you no longer hear or feel him, he has gone to run and play. Waiting for you to join him!

Dang Beech! Do you have a hard time typing through the tears! I do... It took me probably 3 months before I had one evening when I didn't cry coming home from work. Husband asked me one nite about a week after I had to let Grits go, why I was crying as we were driving back to the house & I told him I cried every nite going home cause she wasn't there. It hurts like a mother, but you did the "loving" thing & made the hurt stop for him. Bravo Girlfriend!
