Here's how it was supposed to be - the kids school ended on June 21 - hubby was off that week and the week of June 26 - I was off week of June 26 and the week of July 3
Kids go to day camp for the summer for 8 weeks - but we kept them home the week of June 26 so we could go to 6 Flags park in the states.
Well major change of plans: We bought a house that's being built and sold ours - so we have no money to go to 6 flags with the kids. The kids aren't in camp as we had "planned" on activities. Here's another hick: hubby's brother bought a house (a money pit type) and had to overhaul all the flooring as well as deck & painting & cleaning - he asked for "help" but what he really wanted was someone to do the work for him. So hubby spends his 2 weeks off - doing the floors for him - the B-I-L is MIA and not doing anything while friends & family do the work. If you ask for help, you should help & not just show up to inspect (would be different if he was paying these people)...
Now for the kids, well if you know kids, they can't play alone anymore like we used to - something missing in their DNA I think - daughter complains that she has nothing to do and son the same - everyone has a camp or is away (as we had planned to be). Now a friend takes daughter for sleepover (yeah!) and son is alone and VERY whiney - nothing amuses him and he's very bored with any activity - neighbor's kid comes home and slices open his knee open and requires stitches - no playing outside for a few days - I'm stuck with two whiney kids - no car as a belt melted off the motor somewhere and it's not a huge paperweight in the driveway so I can't go anywhere.
So one afternoon we go to the driving range with the kids and my 6 year old son whacks a ball just like "Happy Gilmore" if you've seen that movie you'll know the pose - it's like a hockey player hitting a slap shot - but the ball rebounds off the side of the wall & smacks him on the forehead - instant purple "egg" appears.
To make matters worse, hubby is back at work next week and I have to walk the kids to camp which is pretty far away since I have no car (we only need this stupid car till October as school will be walking distance away but I still need to drive the kids to school for the month of September - I hate this car - it,s a 1991 tercel and it's falling apart and costing a fortune to keep together long enough to trash it!)
So basically, during my week alone I was hoping to bring the kids to camp and go back to bed for a few hours - no such luck now
These were really nothing like the holidays I had planned - hubby gets home he's exhausted, I'm mentally drained from listening to the kids fight all the time and nothing gets done. Maybe work is not so bad!
Sorry for the whinning!
Oh, I forgot to mention we've had torrential rain most of the week too
