Congress is pushing a law that would abandon the Internet's First Amendment -- a principle called Network Neutrality that prevents companies like AT&T, Verizon and Comcast from deciding which Web sites work best for you -- based on what site pays them the most. If the public doesn't speak up now, our elected officials will cave to a multi-million dollar lobbying campaign. www.savetheinternet.com/For anyone that buys, rents, downloads, posts, sells, bloggs, or reads an awful lot of stuff online are threatened. How much would you pay to read the post here at RTH. Because if it passes, we all will become more careful on how long one can even be on the Internet without going broke paying for service fees, when all i wanna do is respond to some topics. I suggest you at least read the Faqs page, and find more info for yourself. Sure there are good things this could limit, like what sites a child visits. But that should be the parents job and not the governments. I mean, are we a democratic society or a feudal one?

Why is it that their trying to take every freedom from us that they can? When I started on the INTERNET 12 years ago it was almost all free now it is almost all pay, pay, pay! Pay for access, Pay for usage, Pay for each e-mail! I get so very very sick of greed!

Like we don't already pay through our ***** paying our internet providers. Besides revenue, it's also a way to monitor what we look at without having to subpoena the IP's for a list of websites used for "homeland security". Land of the free? ??

Ya, and in cases of large ISP like AOL. They are already selling your info and scanning your computer to better optimise what they can addvertise to you and sell you. Espically for people on Dialup still. And with those ISP that offer a so called faster connection. HA, thats just them putting more crap on your computer to scan what your doing, thts all it about. HOw further they can grow their deep pockets.
ANd for anyone that doesnt know about Comunity ISP, its gaining ground for people who only have one option to connect to the internet. And these corperate ISP are really throwing a fit over it, like with the whole file sharing thing. Thats also why they pushing this harder right now. Becasue if more communities get together and make ther own ISP(its very possible). the price will only go down for everyone. And those big corperations are very arfriad of that.
