Whoah. Life as we know it has ended. He was a genius. I can only imagine what it would have been if Syd, and Jim Steinman had ganged up. I do not think we would have ever come back down from that. It would have been the eternal trip. Syd, come back......come back...finish the Albatross! Syd, we need you.

OMG, I am devistated! They just don't make 'em like that anymore. A "tribute" is definately in order though... Mr. Pink will always be alive in our (fuzzy) memories... ;D Sorry, it's just my comic relief defense mechanism kicking in again.

Did you read, that the infamous Johns Hopkins University completed a 5 year test at the expense of 300million taxpayer dollars. They just announced, that psycyllibin produces an experience that brings on a spiritual nature. They also concluded LSD25 can also produce the same effect. Gads, they could have given me 10$ and I could have saved them some real time. It is a good thing my daughter in law graduated from such a school that would take such chances. See what you are missing Syd?

There next study will be to see if cannabis use causes subjects to have an increased interest in cheese burgers and potato chips!!
Might just have to pick up some Floyd on CD for road trips. I still have a turntable in my shop to play the vinyl on but my project of trying to convert to digital files for Cd's has not worked out very well. There are just some things my little mind can't get a handle on. Good think dark side still is in the top 100, it will be easy to find. Bill

I always listen to Division Bell any time I take the BC ferries to/from the mainland now because of an experience I had... One time some years ago I took 2fl.oz extract of psilocybin mushrooms in creme de menthe as soon as drove onto the ferry while on my way to a Floyd concert in Vancouver. It tasted horrible but it sure went well with the Floyd. I'm sure anyone who's been there can probably imagine what "Keep Talking", "Coming Back To Life" and "Marooned" would be like while you're peakin on shrooms. I hung out on the deck of the ferry with killer whales breeching beside it, the gulls chasing the sea breeze etc. Quite a profound experience. I know alot of you diehard Floyd heads would probably prefer some Dark Side over Division Bell but that was all a bit before my time... Man I still remember the day I got Division Bell on CD, just like it was yesterday... I cranked one & cranked it up man! I swear I went AWOL from my body for at least 2 hrs too while I was driving the Hope-Princeton later on so I don't really know what happened there. All I know is I made it OK... Crazy sh!t for the mind & soul that i'd recommend at least once to anyone feeling disconnected from themselves or the universe in general. The shrooms that is, and the Floyd helps too I guess ;D

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun. Shine on you crazy diamond. Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky. Shine on you crazy diamond. You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze. Come on you target for faraway laughter, come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine! You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon. Shine on you crazy diamond. Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light. Shine on you crazy diamond. Well you wore out your welcome with random precision, rode on the steel breeze. Come on you raver, you seer of visions, come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine! Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far. Shine on you crazy diamond. Pile on many more layers and I'll be joining you there. Shine on you crazy diamond. And we'll bask in the shadow of yesterday's triumph, and sail on the steel breeze. Come on you boy child, you winner and loser, come on you miner for truth and delusion, and shine! Greetings All,
Just saw the news myself this morning. All my Floyd experience is post-Barret, I'll have to go find Piper sometime and give it a listen.
I remember turning my older brother and his best friend on to "Meddle" around 1980. It was the opening night of Tron and we were sorta "driving around" a bit before going to the theater, getting ready as it were. Ended up being one of those "forgot where we were going" kind of drives and we barely made it on time to the movie. Hard to believe here in 2006 how prohibition still has its hold in the USA. Too much money and power to be had keeping it the way it is I guess.
