Strep throat- I had it last Fall- Never had a soar throat or anything- but it settled into my joints (I could not even walk to the bathroom alone-- my wife had to half carry me) I though I was a gonner (I got real scared) Finally went to the doctor and he got me started on some antiboitics- Took a good 2 weeks before I even started to feel functional

hey everybody...got a little more news today...not sure if good or bad...doc called and said that beleive my kidneys are working somewhat...the ultrasound showed something...that kind of looked like kidney stones...but they didnt quite think so...since i have no signs of that...he says i need a cat scan...but the damn insurance company wont pay for it...until other things are done and checked.
i should have gotten all of the blood work and x rays today...but i missed enough time from work already...so thursday was my choice...still have my guys to look out for.
cher...i think the doc seen something in the first visit...thats why he said he wouldnt give me any more medication...and he also told me to take nothing for pain at all...nothing.
he probably figured i wouldnt put anything off a few days...but i did.
i actually asked him today...what the hell do you think is going on with me...he said...im not sure...but we are going to check you for cancer first...thats where its pointing...your father died from it...your mother had it...and you didnt listen to me over the years....harsh...but what he said....we'll see.....keep yaw updated

Oh man Cpdad, my prayers are for you. Keep your chin up and stay strong. Hopefully it won't be as bad as they are saying it might. Like the others said, attitude does a lot. Keep positive okay? Keep us up to date with everything.

Like you are the first person who didn't listen to the doctor. Kevin, it probably wouldn't make any difference if you did, just know you will win. Tell your doc I said so!

Stay strong! Keep a positive attitude which I know is hard to do right now, but we are all praying for you. Take it from Cher...she is one tough cookie who beat her illness...and whatever this is, we will help you thru it. Lots of prayers are coming your way!

Greetings All,
Real sad to hear the news Kevin but keep a fighting spirit and make sure the doctors are honest with you about what they do and don't know. You've got to be your own advocate in the medical world, doctors don't have the time anymore to treat the person, just the disease. I'll be thinking of you.

Kevin~ I agree with William, doctors today do not have the time or inclination to treat the person..only the disease. So you will need to fight for what you need even if you're not sure it is. Don't take no for an answer.
When my step father was ill last year my 5'4" tiny little mother would stand up to those doctors with her jaw set and fire in her eyes demanding whatever she thought was needed...even if she didn't know what that was! And if traditional medicine couldn't give her the answers she would look elsewhere.
My point here is that you will need to take the bull by the horns when it comes to fighting this. Ask lots of questions and don't let them brush you off or dismiss you as someone who wouldn't understand. Make them help you understand.
Fight it man! Tooth and nail with all your resources. You can beat it whatever it is. I know it.
I'm praying specifically for the Lord to give you strength and courage...and also a prayer for the doctors treating you to be given insight into your ailment.
Stay positive and keep the faith...remember...fear is your enemy and living in faith will eliminate fear.
Please keep us posted, Dan
