My Goodness...sounds like folks are really suffering!!
I'm in Houston and it's been relatively mild here compared to last year. Sure it's still HOT here but not any hotter than any other year. At least we're getting good amounts of rain. I really feel bad for the folks up North and back East who have no air conditioning...must be miserable.
Hang in there folks..and drink plenty of fluids. Don't wait till you feel bad before getting out of the heat. There are usually several heat related deaths here very year so be careful!!!

It's gorgeous here, the humidity has finally gone away. 81° is still warmer than I like it but at least it doesn't feel like 101!

damn hot here - but on the brighter side, mosquitos can't breed if there isn't any water anywhere.

We've only seen about 98 here in NW Ohio, but the heat index has been about 115-120. If you are like me and work in a factory, I can understand what you are going through. I work in a food factory and unfortunately happen to be on the cooking end of the deal. We use superheated steam and water to heat our products and it makes for some intense working conditions (heat plus humidity). The platform that my job is at reads 120-140 deg with the humidity causing condensation that literally leaves "rain" dripping from the pipework and ceilings. There is little in the way of air conditioning (break rooms that we only see twice a shift) and the fans only blow the hot air that comes off the rest of the machines around you. To top it all off, we are behind on our orders and have been forced to work 12 hrs every day plus weekends. Needless to say we go through about 200 gallons of Gatorade daily!?! After a few years of working in these conditions I find that it doesn't bother me so much. Air conditoners seem to make me too cold and I usually end up getting one of those dreaded summer head and chest colds if I sit around in the cold air too much. People think I am crazy when I say the heat really doesn't bother me but that comes from working in those conditions every day - everyones hot days are really kind of cool to me!?! The weather is supposed to break about Friday (lower 80s) - will probably need to break out the winter clothes if it does cool off - lol Stay cool everyone and drink lots of water and clear liquids!

We've been pretty lucky here in Bedford, Mass. The heat wave finally hit us with the last two days in the upper90s and a minor heat wave last week but I am just glad to get some relief from all the rainy weather this spring and early summer....Our winter lasts much too long in most years but we had a real nice spring this year so I cannot complain

dtcmor- I feel your heat- I used to work second shift in a plastics Factory- In the summer we would hit 110- man the old ladies would drop like flies in that heat!!!! Used to drink 2 to 3 gallons of water a shift and never pee!!!! I used to sweat so bad I would have Salt stains on my shirt!!! Yea I remember those days- Our water cooled mold would sweat so bad that half the plastic we molded was no good!

I got off work at 5AM, turned on the news and found out it was 90degrees with 94% humidity-the high today is supposed to be 110 (heat index). Working in long sleeves and a tie is the pits!

It's been a lot nicer out here on the Washington coast. I'm a ways inland, but it's only been in the 70's for the past few days. Just plain comfortable.

We have had an awesome monsoon season for the first time in many, many years. In fact, much of NM has washed away. Some days have seen 3" of rain, more than we usually get in an entire year. The rain has kept the temps down, in the 80's. I'm itching to get down to the SW corner of the state *where moonstone and sunstone can be collected*. S
