hey everybody...seems my doctor was asking other doctors in his office about my symptons...well he called me yesterday and asked me to write down anything at all that may be diff at home or work and bring it with me to his office today... 1 of the other doctors mentioned to him it maybe something chemical causing the quick appearance of my symptoms.
the only thing diff at home was cutting rocks on the saw...and didnt think anything was diff at work...then a little later...1 of the guys reminded me that we needed to pour a babbitt bearing next week for the last generator in the dam.
i told him to get everything ready and i would pour it monday morning when it was cool....then it hit me...babbit is full of bad stuff...could this cause something...i went and called the doctor...and told him that i had done 5 of these lately....a lot more than normal...its the only thing can think of...he said he wanted me in his office before i went to get the blood work and biopsy on my throat.
pouring babbitt is tricky and dangerous the way we do it...imagin a 5 gallon bucket...but steel...with 2 long handles welded on the sides of it...1 to the left...and 1 to the right...its filled with the babbitt...and torches placed underneath it to heat the pot...as it heats the babbitt melts...and you add more babbitt...untill the pot is full...then you remove the impurities with a large spoon...the impurities will float to the top...i repeat these steps many times over.
i choose to do all of the babbitt myself...the fumes are terrible...i have been severely burned by it...you have to get somewhat close to the pot to scoop the impurities off of the top...if the smallest drop of water hits the hot babbitt...it will explode like dropping a brick in a 5 gallon bucket...it just flies up everywhere...i made the mistake of letting a drop of sweat drip off my nose into the pot before...the babbitt flew out of the pot...and landed all over me..have bad scars on my shoulders from it landing on them.
after all of that..the babbitt is poured into a mold...just like you see on tv...a big ladle of molten metal being poured sideways...because of all the things that can go wrong...this is 1 job i always do myself...with a couple of the younger guys helping....i know how bad this stuff is...so i always take the frontline...we have the safety stuff...i just dont use it..im supposed to...but it just gets in my way....i will for now on.
anyway...i go to the doctor this morning...he takes a little blood there....and i go over to the big place they draw blood...then on to the throat doctor for the biopsy....he numbed me up a little with a spray...and luckily it was more of a scraping than cutting...to be honest i was a little scared he was going to be cutting...i get called tomorrow about those results...fingers crossed.
i head back over to my regular doctor....seems i have enough lead in me to open a fishing weight factory...he said this may explain a ton...and even the reason for my migraines coming back from time to time...since i do these bearings every so often...just a lot in the last 8 weeks or so...and why my blood pressure...stays so out of whack...its diff at any giving time..thru the year...no matter how they change the pills.
but for now...he put me on a medicine that is suppose to grab the lead and move it out of me...my kidneys should come back to somewhat normal after being on this medicine he said...he isnt quite sure about the joints in my hand yet...he has to do a little more checking he said...and draw fluid from them next week...i have to go back every 7 days for blood work to see if the pills are removing the lead...if not..i may have to start taking shots.
but all in all...i consider this very good news...the docs figured it out quickly...even though i still have to wait on the biopsy results...and still have to get a chest x ray...the x ray was put on hold when they figured this out...he wanted me to get on this medicine right away.
thanks everybody for the prayers...i believe that they helped in such a quick diagnosis...plus im sure the masters badges played a role in it to ;D
i still have the biopsy results to go...and hope the medicine gets some of the lead out...at least he has me believing that lead poisoning causes some of the symptoms that jumped on me in such a short time.
just hit spell check and preveiw...sorry for the noval...i aint about to try and edit it...took me an hour to write it ;D

Cp, glad they know. Guessing is the hard part. I have done babbitting, although it was on a Model T. I kinda liked it although definately on the scale you have experienced. They will give you drugs to relieve the lead. It gets most out. I also have heavy metal occurences from metalurgy in my past. I am doing H2O2 therapy, at this moment. It is working. It is different to get used to, but it all comes easily. I am using 35% H2O2, and diluting it. At this time, I am at 14drops per 6ozs, three times a day. My wife also. She was given some diseases by her ex years ago, and the H2O2 is working dramatically for her. Not IV therapy, but oraly. Search, Hydrogen Peroxide Drink. The medication they will give you will scrub from the fatty tissues, but the neural endings, and spinal chord will contain residue. The peroxide, with the free Oxygen atom activates nerves, muscles, organs. It is current therapy for antimony poisoning. Health food stores can get it for you. One quart about 20$ should last a year. One pure drop will bore an hole through the skin. Follow the instructions on the sites, start with one drop per 6ozs. It takes a bit but it gets easy. Also look for the anti peroxide sites. They do not hold much " water" under empiracle investigation. My wife is slowly losing excess weight, the shakes in my hands are getting much less severe, and I am sleeping much more deeply. Most of the metallic taste is gone from my mouth, and two plantar warts have fallen off! I have been treating those two little buggers for over 9 years with nothing to show except for pain. Do some searching on this, you might not have to settle for most of the lead out. Have fun with the searches. Look for the Devils Advocate in this. Lead is nasty stuff when it enters the bloodstream.

Woohoo Kevin, great news. But I'll keep the prayers going for the other things until those are cleared up. Oh by the way, use duct tape to get rid of plantars warts. Just keep putting a piece of the tape on until it's gone, supposed to be a sure cure.

Lead poisoning??? Geez, I didn't think that even occured anymore. I looked up the symptoms and they do seem to match many of the symptoms you described though. Still, I'd keep an open mind and see if they come up with other alternatives.
And as for Doc's hydrogen peroxide therapy, I dunno, I'm pretty leery of alternative medicine to start with, but I'd be really leery of drinking oxidizing chemicals before I talked to my real doctor about it.

Prayers do work!!!!!!!! So glad to hear that you have a diagnosis for some of your symptoms and that they are going to continue checking you. Sounds like you have a good team of doctors. I get a blood test for lead poisoning every couple years when I do a lot of stained glass work. The lead from the solder and came can get into your system just by holding it. Thanks for the reminder that I really should be wearing my gloves. Keep us posted, Kevin, on how you are doing, OK? And we will continue to lift you up.
Grateful for the outcome,
CQ

I am glad the doctors figured it out! My confidence in doctors has slowly dwindled over the years. They shuffle you through the office like you are a car going through the car wash. I wish you a speedy recovery "to get the lead out" (trying to be funny) and that the biopsy is negative. And start wearing that safety gear! Safety first! Vanity second!

Glad you have found out what is going on. Will keep you in my prayers. But I gotta ask. You keep speaking of "masters badges". What are those??

CP- I'm so very happy that a "source" was found for your troubles. Now maybe you can get on the right course for recovery! As far as alternative therapies...more power to anyone who uses them...I for one listen with an open mind and heart. If I thought something could help me or a loved one...you bet I'd get on the bandwagon. Just stop & think about this...could there really be a deeper meaning as to why all of us are attracted to rocks??? Read up on some of the "healing" powers of rocks. Can't hurt & just might be of help to someone, plus...it makes for VERY interesting reading and they make great gifts to our families & friends. (they are also great conversation starters when you try to share "the rocks" with those who don't know a thing!) Ok...time for comic relief! Remember Rainman? Well when CP was talking about "the babbit", all I could think of was, "gotta go to Kmart" & "hot water burn baby!" Great flick! (that was before Tom went looney toones!)

Don, quick note: lead poisoning is alive and well, it happens on a pretty regular basis. Usually it is found in little kids, usually the poor. It is very nasty in children and can and does lead to lifelong disabilities for the child/children. Pretty sad. They are already impaired before starting kindergarten.

Liz, although I don't believe in most alternative therapies, I don't have an issue with someone exploring, for example, the purported healing powers of rocks. If it works, then power to them, and if it doesn't work, then the worst they've done is drop a bit of cash.
What I was urging caution on was the suggestion to start drinking hydrogen peroxide as an alternative therapy for lead poisoning. The very dilute (3%) H2O2 in my medicine cabinet causes fairly rapid burning of the skin when used as directed to pour on minor wounds to sterilize them. The suggestion to begin drinking the stuff is what I had a problem with. Although I have no idea if the doses reccommended by Doc are safe or not, I would still recommend talking to a medical doctor before deciding to drink any potentially corrosive chemicals that have been touted as "cures" on the Internet.

Just being curious about drinking H2O2 so I searched it, looking for sites I felt I could trust. Found this at the American Cancer Society site. ************ Overview There is no evidence that oxygen therapy is effective in treating cancer. It may even be dangerous. There have been reports of patient deaths from this method. ************ Here's the link if you want to read more. www.cancer.org/docroot/eto/content/eto_5_3x_oxygen_therapy.asp?sitearea=eto

I agree with you wholeheartedly! ANYONE who would be foolish enough to jump into some kind of "alternative" medicine or therapy, without first getting the best available knowledge, to make an informed decision...well to put it bluntly...would be an idiot. I'm sure Doc gave the info with the intention of sharing rather than saying it was a "cure". Hell...I've never even heard of it before!

A: "Medicine."

Yeah, I threw it out as information, and possibly a last ditch effort. I have significant mercury poisoning. As a child, I ate the mercury in the bottom of the thermometers. I was given therapy, drugs, and excercise programs. Then I met this old Osteopath, remember them? Bone benders and crackers. Today they are massage therapists. I went to him as a last ditch effort. The meds did some, but I still had shakes. This guy did 24 drops, 2 times a day. He had done it for years. He was in his 80's when I met him, and he did not act like an 80yr old. Today, my serum mercury is negligeable. I do agree with the warnings, H2O2 is extremely corrosive. I am extremely skeptical about H2O2 being a cancer cure. I do know, when I started doing the H2O2, I caughed up a lot of crap. I used to hurt sneezing, now I can sneeze comfortably. Wounds and burns from the shop heal almost over night, my hair is shiney, and I sleep like a baby. My wife had thrush. She got it from her exhusband. Her tongue was white, her skin had that loss of tension from a yeast growth. I got it for her, but I always act as a barometer in things like this. I had done H2O2 years ago and got the shakes under control. All the thrush symptoms are gone in her at this point. We are going to do this for six months to allow the body to regrow healthy cells in place of the intruded cells. From what I know about peroxide, the body produces peroxide to fight infection. It is not free O2 running around fighting bacteria, the peroxide produces hormones in the body. She has more energy, is temporarily free of Candidiasis, and is slowly losing weight and getting tone. A definate warning! Watch when you eat! It is ok to eat an hour after taking the peroxide, and three hours before taking peroxide. You will bloat. There are warnings about taking medications with this. If the Docs cannot eliminate the lead, and you are hung out to dry, food for thought. It must be diluted though, or you will have heartburn you will never forget! One drop per 6ozs to start. I am not one to take anything I read over the internet really seriously unless I try it and it works. If I had not done this in my very early teens I would not have given it another thought. My wife did the Nystatin therapy, and had some results but still had symptoms. The Drs kept pushing drugs at her, they get a percentage, and she had no results. She has some now. Grocery store peroxide has zinc, and phosphate added to preserve it. Do not use this for anything except topical applications. So much for my soap box. Just food for thought if all else fails. Lead and mercury are pretty nasty things. The serum lead and mercury just likes to hang in there forever. It took over a year for me. I actually got used to taking it.
