Hi All, We finaly got started to clear the site Down comes the utility room Monday All down Tuesday troubles. as we clearedthe garage concrete floor we found another concrete floor to to be removed Then we found a old obsolete gas pipe which I thought was a water pipe cut through it to check and it was a live gas line , hour later the gas people come to do the repair "Oh I only work on Plastic" Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 1 Hour later 3 men come "Oh we will fix the leak but cant cut off this 2nd supply" !!!!!!!!!!!! Grrrrrrrr We finaly managed to talk them into doing the job we dig it out you cap it !! and I have lost 2 hours work (out of the Digger and 20 ton skip lorry)!! just because the gas board didnt cut this line of when they put in the new plastic pipe 15 yrs ago!! So we continue Thanks for looking and remembering us in your prayers a testing time for all the family. Never mind "Problems were made to be solved" the challenge of life. Jack Yorkshire UK

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh, I remember those times well! We lived in that condition for 17 long months. Every day is a new experience and you never know what you will find (we were hoping to find buried treasure...but didn't). But it is worth it in the long run!
Stay patient!

Wow Jack, that looks like quite a job you're doing there. Hope the rest of it goes well for you. What is it you are building again?

Jack, Best wishes with the demo. Hopefully The Ministry of Administration and The Bureau of Bureaucracy don't get in the way too much! As a former builder here in the U.S. I don't envy you for having to deal with government agencies and utility companies. Sounds like just as much hassle in the U.K. As we used to say... "They ought to make getting on welfare as hard as it is to get a building permit."

Hi Rockyraccoon I suppose I might get the garage for a while BUT I have 2 teenage daughters growing up (1 17 this November) and we are a bit tight for parking space as regards upstairs its a bedroom
As it is a dormer bungalow the upstairs is built into the roof and at the sides it starts a 2 ft so we only have the center area at full hight the sides are good for wardrobe/cupboards storage which we are desprately short of
Thanks for looking

Hi Conrock, I keep hoping to win the Lottery BUT as my wife says "you first have to enter " and as I have no luck in raffles I just dont bother , any way the odds are about 60,000,000 to 1 !! so I dont have much chance. The wiz Yes the steel holds the extention together the top two ar the celing hight abd the botom one is where the roof brakes so there has to be a beam to hold the roof which will be clay tiles
Thanks for your comments
