WOW!! You sure know how to capture the beauty of that area in your photos. The Elk looks like it's ready to charge you....maybe you should consider borrowing the helmet of the dude in the background. I think he's overly prepared for any animal attacks. The little boy doesn't want to see the attack,....the guy with the fishing hat is shaking his finger at you for getting too close, and the lady in the pink and white is already running to help in the aid of the attack. Of course, I know you came out unscathed...but I still had to add to that picture. I'd love to go on one of your excursions with you...you find alot of cool stuff. Steve

Never been to Yellowstone, but I have been to Alaska. Hope to go back someday as I want to go Halibut fishing. I remember seeing a lot of bears, all kind of bears, big bears! LOL!

What fabu bear shots!! I've got some pretty good bear video. One a griz in Yellowstone, another a black bear on the road from Banff to Jasper -- he almost got his butt hit! The camera went nuts while I was screaming and waving my arms trying to get the cars to stop.
Hey, all those peeps back there had formed an elk jam and were harrassing that poor dude. I think we were stuck in the traffic or pulled over & then he finally got disgusted and ran towards us. Joe probly had a telephoto on him already.

Those are incredible photos! You should enter them in Gaeter's photo contest! No wait, that would be some pretty stiff competition, on second thought, nevermind... ~'.'~'.'~'.'~ These are not the droids you're looking for... Move along ~'.'~'.'~'."~ ;D

Jack, credit for the bear goes to Desertdweller, not me. I love those too. Thanks for the compliments on ours, though!

The elk photo is on the deceptive side......they can be as big as horses! I used to live in Colorado and came across them on ocasion. I would not want to hit one in my car!

One more photo of the bears with my nephew. That elk does look like he's ready to charge someone. He was probably nervous with all the people around him.[im g][/img]

Have been to Yellowstone and Alaska both....it would be a tough decision to make if I had to choose between the two. Both have their good points and beauty.

The crowd freaked out the elk. We have 2 photos of him grazing and wading before this. As I recall we stopped up the road more watching the tourist insanity than the elk, when he lost patience with them and took off.
