What do you put into the search engine to find rough rocks off eBay? Under what category do you look?

Look under the catagory of collectibles- There is a subheading rocks, minerals, and fossils!

I search for ' Lapidary'
That usually brings up rough rock for tumbling
Watch the postage though, I saw a lot that looked nice and noticed the weight - I looked up the postage for that weight and found that the seller was wanting three times as much - I know you have to add a bit for packaging but I thought that was rediculous

Beware of the staggering amount of fake and overpriced rubbish available on eBay; eg. bags of rough diamonds and died yellow okenite specimens; sadly there's a lot of deceptive advertising going on there.
If you have a rockshop in your area, I'd suggest buying your rough there; small serious dealers really need your support and you'll be able to see what you're actually getting too.

I finally found a few Canadian rock shops. Reasonable prices too. I've actually seen agates for $2.50/lb ($0.50 US ) The only problem is that he mentioned that he is setting up a web site and it isn't up yet, and he's working from a hotmail email address. I'm kind of skeptical to buy from him even if he seems to have a large selection of rough. Mex Lace is $3.50/lb Cdn. Brazilian agate is $2.50. They're prices seem very tempting, maybe I should try anyways... Any opinions on this - should I try him out anyways?

What is his name? It is hard to start up- We have a local guy who runs a shop- He is always talking about starting up a website but never does it- His wife left him (I think) and his mother runs the store cause he is always out digging Dinos- They have some nice stuff and the prices are ok but they never seem to get in anything new- when they do it is gone pretty quick- Ummm what was the original question- Oh - give the guy a try- Something small (10 to 20 bucks) Then if he stiffs you- well your only out a bit- But if it pans out- well then your good to go!

He's "Robert Hall Originals" in St. George Ontario, Canada - if anyone knows or has heard of him - and has any feedback I'd really appreciate it - since he's pretty close by if I get good feedback, I'll probably throw some business his way

I got a PM saying that he has loads of rocks on his lot & in his showroom, he had rave reviews for this guy. Unless the person who sent me the PM is actually the guy who owns the shop "Robert Perry" - I got his name through a link to Canadian rock shops: www.canadianrockhound.ca/dealers_lapidary.htmlI've actually sent emails to all of them inquiring about their products. Some have tumblers, some have rocks. But if this guy is very good & the prices are okay - I'm in & willing to go for it - I got a 33B tumbler, 4 lbs of rock, enough grit, polish & pellets to do 10-12 lbs of rock, a gemology type booklet & I got it all for under $165 Cdn ;D delivered to my doorstep. But I had to compare each place to each other. I figured that shipping of a that pkg was about $8.00 Cdn since he's pretty close to my place - but this was from further south in Ontario.

I recall seeing his advertisement listed in the Ottawa phone book under "lapidary" when I was in Ottawa this past summer, but I never got further than looking in the phone book. BTW, what else is he selling? I checked under lapidary too in the Ottawa book & I think he's mostly jewelry - he's got diamonds & settings. I emailed him asking about rough rock, but no answer yet. As for what Robert Hall Originals carries, he said he had lotsa stuff, I can't check as he emailed me at work. I'll check tomorrow
