i remember when i was little having these small green books in my mom's china cabinet....i remember somewhat trying to read the book...it was called fifty years ago around saluda N.C. about 5 or 6 years ago..i asked my brother if he had a copy of this book...hes 10 years older than i am...and he said he would look and see...he thought they were destroyed in our house fire..when i was about 7...i never thought much more about it..appereantly he didnt either. i just remember stories dad told me about lost gold...stills, making soap, and delivering milk..stuff like that...well come to find out its true...at least according to my grandfather. an old friend emailed this link....he just ran across it while looking for a cabin in the mountains...i havent emailed this charlene pace yet...not sure who she is...but i will monday...just to try to get copies of the little book...at least for my son. it gets boring..then interesting....boring ..then interesting...fun for how it was back then...im sure it is way more interesting for me than others...about 16 pages....just thought it was cool history. www.saludamountainlake.com/saluda_nc/index.html

You know, I saw that book in the cabin we rented in Franklin NC. It is a great book. I read it all. Some of the things they did back then was just so interesting. It talked about the town just NE of Franklin and how it became what it is today. I wish I could remember the town. If you get a copy let me know the name please. I wouldn't mind having a copy myself. It's a great book! Tonja
