I have been waiting over 2 years for this girl to bloom. It's called a rose mallow plant, for the pond. I had no idea what it would look like and was about ready to whack it down untill I saw a few buds last month. The flower lasts about 3/4 days then just drops off. You can see where one of the flowers dropped, at about 10 oclock from the flower. I had about 6 flowers from her now and I think it was worth the wait. The flower is about 8" across.

Nice bloom. Kind of reminds me of cotton flowers, or hibiscus. Guess it's earned its keep for next year's garden.

Know all about waiting for something to bloom...got a tree we planted because it was supposed to be hardy for our area and have nice blue/purple blooms every year. We waited 15 years to see the first bloom. Now it blooms every year and sometimes several times a year. Some things are just worth the wait. Hope it blooms for many years Earthdog...
