Well, I have a meeting with our GM today about a raise I asked for. Hopefully even if I don't get the full amount I asked for, I'll get something.
Keep your fingers crossed, send positive vibes my way. I'll let ya'll know tonight when I get off work.

I don't wish you luck...
Let me explain: To wish you luck would imply that you would not be able to achieve your goal otherwise, and insults your abilities.
So instead, I say good skill and good reward for it!

I'm only worth 50 cents and hour more than I make now. I got some song and dance about how NO ONE pays more than that blah blah blah...at least I got something. But all the extra stuff I do is finito. Screw em!

HEHE Mark- GM is General Manager- and as a general rule- calling a GM a monkey usually leads to something called un-employement- Not that it is the end of the world- as a talanted eager go getter can always find work- But we become accustomed to a cetain way of life- and it gets very hard to give that up- and is always scary to change course-

I'm the only woman in the department. I plan on being like a drop of water on limestone...it will take forever, but they WILL bend to my way of thinking MUHAHAHAHA

Above, beyond, over, under, round and round, you name it. I've been running the department more or less since before our manager was terminated. He was just burned out so I made sure things that needed done ( by HIM) got done. They fired him, I've stepped in and done everything but the mechanical end of it which no one has taught me. I come in on my off time and answer my phone everytime someone calls with a problem. I go in early and stay late. Most times without being on the clock. I've saved the GM and owners butt's a time or two with the state and done anything and everything they've asked and then some. I've pulled rabbits outta my arse and miracles outta my hat... So yeah, I think I went above and beyond...

Man that really stinks. I see this type of treatment of hard working employees all the time... companies will take every advantage and offer no reward...You have to fight, claw and back stab to get anywhere it seems...it's not enough just to be an honest, ethical, diligent person.... not too mention the glass ceiling in place over the heads of good folks like Lesa... dishonest payroll practices can be fought. I've done it by reading the Fair Labor Standards Act.. there are laws which are designed to protect employees... in my case i was told that i was no longer an hourly employee and was exempt status... and would not be paid for overtime.... turns out that according to the FLSA I was not exempt and was given a check for back-pay of overtime wages after pointing out the discrepancy to the HR dept.... i don't know what your circumstances are Lesa but if you arm yourself with knowledge of the law you are better prepared to do battle... good luck...!

Thanks for the info on the fair wage laws. It's not a case of that for sure, its a case of tight wads wanting to line their own pockets. It's cool, I'll just keep looking for a place that can use the skills I have, meanwhile I'll stay put. I'm thinking that a state job would be the ticket, if I can find anything open I qualify for. Thanks for the positive thoughts all

"Most times without being on the clock. "
We all tend to learn the hard way, Xena. Don't give 'em nothin' for nothin'.

Hmmm - I say give em nothin - not now - not for "something" not for "anything" or even for "everything". They want you and need you - give them NOTHING of YOU. Go it alone... Just use the monkeys as you need their monkey cash - then once youve got the idea - dump them and live happily ever after doing your own thing.

Yes...Mark has it right. So many places I've worked want more than just your abilities...they want your soul as well.
I know exactly what Mark means when he says 'give them nothing of you'. Just take their monkey cash and forget 'em...
