BAZ's post about the air shows and the old military planes in the Oshkosh thread got me to looking for these photos. Once a year (except this year) a friend of mine, that helps run our small local county airport, coordinates a small festival for the public. It gives everyone a chance to come out and see the planes (mostly single engine small planes) and take a cheap ride on a tour flight.
My friend has connections with a museum up in Michigan and has them fly down at least one historic military plane for everyone to see. Last year was a B-25 bomber. The year before was a B-17. Unfortunately, the day that the B-25 flew back to the museum, there was a horrific fire that destroyed the museum and most of the planes that they had for display. Many of the old warbirds and planes were completely lost and are irreplaceable. The B-25 was not yet in the hanger and was spared. Not sure but I think the museum is still closed and might not re-open.
I got to at least take some pictures while it was here (B-25) and it is a sight that I will never forget. They offered rides - for a hefty price - and it was cool to see this old bird take up most of the short country runway for takeoff and landing. So here it is - Hope you enjoy!

!! From what I understand, there are about 4 different noses they could interchange on the front - anything from 8 machine guns up to a small cannon. Would have hated to be on the receiving end!!
