OMG, I got my tumbler! I know most of you are saying, "Big Deal!" but I've had so much trouble finding one at a reasonable price! I got my Lortone 33B, 4 lbs of rock, & jars of coarse, med/fine, prepolish, polish & pellets. I'm so excited!!!! But I have to wait to start it up, cuz I want my dad to have a look at it before I get it going!! Yeah!! The rocks that came with it are pretty amazing even rough - I think some are "thunder eggs"? They look like a dome and one has some kind of crystal inside. I'm so excited!!! ;D ;D ;D can you tell!
Anyone know if I can use sewing machine oil on it? What kind of oil am I supposed to use?
Sorry, I think I'm okay now!!! NO I'M NOT! - okay now I am *still grinning ear to ear* ;D

I see some green, pink, one is irredescent - I feel like I'm going on a first date, my heart is pounding so hard. I'm gonna wet my rocks to see what they look like! ;D

I did wet my pants ! ;D I had the kids help me to use a toothbrush on them - wow. From what I can kinda identify: sodalite, I found a piece with gold/pyrite (I'm guessing pyrite). Green Aventurine - something really really black. lotsa crystal ones, and something with green/red tiger stripes, one has a crust with green, brown, red. All of them are wonderful Sorry guys for my enthusiasm, this must seem really old to everyone else even the kids were impressed with the colors... Let's START the insanity! - I think I'm gonna sleep with the rocks tonite!

Congrats, Tweets! Sounds like you got some really cool rocks....and I know the tumbler you got is cool. I have a 33B, too.
Don't be sorry for your enthusiasm! Enjoy it! There's probably not one of us here who doesn't still get just as excited about a new piece of equipment or a new batch of rocks. That's one of the great things about this forum. We all enjoy and share each other's excitement!

OMG Are you still grinning? I would be ... I'm so excited for you! I got my first in August and was just as excited when I got the last one for Christmas. You'll love your 33B, it's a great little machine.

At least now I'm a tumblin' fool - before I was just a fool The kids thought it was all great - I had to show my 4 yr old son how the bbls opened and how they worked - he NEEDED to see. hubby said: it,s only rocks - get over it! I told him this is what his head is made of! I think the rocks will be on his side of the bed ;D RosebudMN - I'm still grinning - I'm just imaging what these things will look like if I can have enough patience to grind down really nice in the coarse *must have patience this time* A bit of advice: should I use both bbls at once or keep one for prepolish & polish & use the other for coarse & med grit? Can I just have one bbl running in the centre?

thats the best way to doit save a barrel for fine and polish and one for rough and medium grind this way you dont have to go crazy cleaning them just do a run with borax when you are gonna go from fine to polish with that barrel---and even if you have just the one barrel runnin allways put both on the tumbler because with one it will walk to the other side and rub the bottom of the barrel on the plastic stop and it will wear a hole in the bottom of the barrel and allways put the metal lids to the outside this way the metal will be against the plastic wheels and it wont hurt the barrels

Have fun Tweetie ! It certainly is an obsession ! I think my hubby is sick of hearing about it ;D I have to stop my load today as we are away for the weekend - just when they are about to go into polish I know it only a couple of days but still when your so close to the end of a load it sucks !

;D No need to apologize for your excitment here! My husband picked me up a new tumbler when he was working on the road. Here the guy was gone for around a month and several weeks, and all I could think about when he was coming home was the new tumbler....I'm so bad. Congrats. on the tumbler, there's no turning back on the rock addiction now.

Congrates tweet- I love coming home after a hard day and seeing that little box in the garage- I can bearly contain myself as I let the dogs out and use the bathroom (don't wanna mess up the rocks you know) I run down to the shop (basement) flip on the lights and ohh so slowly slice open the tape- I peel back the box flaps- with my eyes closed then on the count of 3 . 1... 2... oh I can't wait- And there they are- I am almost afraid to touch them- I pull out each rock slowly and loving give it a bath- Ohh tweet- I understand your excitment!

Congratulations on your new arrival. In answer to you question about the oil, yes you can use sewing machine oil. That is what I use on mine when it starts making a noise. Tami

I wanted to sleep with them, hubby wouldn't let me, but I did dream about them for most of the night! - I couldn't find my sewing machine oil - must have leaked & I threw it out. But I'm off to my parent's place after work and I KNOW my dad has some kind or another and I'm going to fire up that baby! My daughter already has one picked out to keep and my son just ooohs & aaaaahs over each one!

tweetie,
If you have to buy oil, try to find one with a plastic tube/spout that pulls out/extends. This will make it easier to reach everything. I think the last I got was 3-in-1. Also, if you can find an extra barrel, you would be able to run two barrels of course. You'll find that if you are patient with your first grind, you will have rocks running for over a month to get shaped. Good luck!
