I use a Canon Powershot G5. The new G6 is almost identical, just a denser image sensor, 7MP I believe. It has comparable functionality to your old one Wiz. Another very popular camera is the Nikon D-series. I personally favor the D70 but I can't afford another camera.

Wiz-
I've got the Fuji Finepix 620s. I've had it for nearly 4 years and am ready for another one. I absolutely love/loved mine. It's been a great camera and I'd by another Fuji in a minute.
Good luck w/ it!!!

That's a lotta camera for $234 - 5mp and 10x zoom.
Macro capabilities? Is that important to you? Shutter lag? Most annoying thing about digital cameras. That'll be at the top of the list when I buy another one.
(When I got my Olympus C-700 it was probably the only 10x zoom on the market, in 2001. Only 2 mp, and it cost $580 back then.)

Just don't try to email any pics from that camera to anyone with a dial up modem. About two pics and you'ill not only swamp his server email allowance, but it will take ten minutes to download each pic. Of course you can always reduce the resolution with a photo processing program for email purposes. About 76 pixels per inch is about all most LCD screens can display anyway, I am told. The nice thing about resolution like that is that you can crop out a single stone and display it full screen without any jaggies. I can't do that with my old Sony.

i love my minolta Z2, 4megapixel and 10xoptical zoom, auto setting and macro settings, only digital I've ever had... the newer models(Konica-Minolta) have a better anti shake system. My only complaint has been too much red in certain light settings, but that might be something I accidentally set myself

I have a sony Cybershot- dsc200- nice little camera- More settings than I'll ever figure out- and is so light I some times forget that I'm carring it! Pretty decent zoom and a nice Macro- Plus that little SOny Battery is good for 200 plus hours of shooting (I have only charged it 3x since I got it for Christmas!)

I have the cybershot too Stefan. (much better & easier than my old digital olympus) It's almost idiot proof (that would be me) and I don't know what all it does either. I'm bad about reading the manual...how boring is that? But, the min. I started taking pics...it was easy.

I got so-so results with mu Olymput D520, and recently got a Canon PowerShot, but don;t thinkI have gotten the best from it yet - may have to read the manual.
I think I should have gotten a low-end digital SLR. Controlling exposure, motion, depth-of-field issues - it seems like I am always fighting the point-n-shoot.

I love my little Olympus Camedia D40 Zoom, it's on it's way out, sadly. I have no idea what I'll get next. Something with killer macro, though...

Olympus C-2040
Ive always liked the olympus brand, even from my days of being a photographer. It has a great set of optics and can acheive true color correction in most cases. Without one having to go in and adjust the color after the photo is taken.

Geez, I'm almost embarrassed to chime in here with my ancient Sony Mavica 7 that uses a floppy disk for image storage. It was maunfactured before megapixels were even invented. However, as you have seen, it still does a passable job of point and shoot for display on computer screens. I got it on ebay for small money after a friend accidentally dropped its predecessor on a concrete floor. Its resolution is so low that 1024 x 768 is about as large as I can enlarge without starting to see jaggies, but the file size is a nice 60k or less, which makes for easy email transport. It is no good for blowing up details, though.
