Geez, I'm almost embarrassed to chime in here with my ancient Sony Mavica 7 that uses a floppy disk for image storage. It was maunfactured before megapixels were even invented. Spacegold - I used to have one of those also. I bought it used with a 40X magnum zoom lens. I can honestly say that it took better pictures than a lot of these high dollar 'super cameras' on the market today, including the 3-4 I currently own. I made the mistake of letting a friend borrow it to get his web page started and unfortunately I never got it back when he happened to move out of state. Haven't seen it or him since. Sure miss the camera!!

I had a Minolta, but it died on me during the summer. I now have a Canon Rebel XT (looks a lot like the Fuji, with the changable lenses) I love it! Here's a sample picture I took with it (Original size is 3456 X 2304 pixels)

I use a Canon Powershot S2 IS. After using it for about a year, I'm undecided as to whether it was really what I would buy if I were to do it again. It takes fantastic macros (focuses up to touching the lense on "super macro" setting), nice telephotos (10X optical zoom, plus more with digital zoom), and the image stabilization feature and white balance setting feature are great. But it sucks batteries like nothing else. It takes AA batteries, but rechargeable batteries can't be recharged with enough juice to last for more than a dozen or two photos. Quality alkalines (Everready or Duracell) are better, but when they no longer have enough juice to work the camera, they still register well into the "good" range in a battery tester. And the camera has so many features and functions that they remain mostly just confusing to me, even after a year of fairly heavy use (roughly 4,000 photos). When you want to change a standard setting, there are so many menus to choose from that I don't know where to begin. And the screen comes on with 20 or so icons that tell what settings are selected -- most of the icons make no common sense and are just baffling. So out comes the extensive manual for anything other than a point and shoot pic on auto setting. My old Olympus 510 had much fewer features, but they were much easier to figure out without having to get out the manual every time you wanted to change something. So those are the pluses and minuses. But a big plus is the macro (which is why I bought it). You rarely need such detail, but it's kind of nice to have, just in case. Here's a pic of common table salt from our kitchen salt shaker, at closest macro focus plus cropping the image with the included software to zoom in as close as possible:

Well I too was hoping for gun talk but for pics i use the Sony Cybershot DSC-H1 5.1mp w/ 12x zoom. Takes great pics and mpeg movies but I need to get as tripod for it.
As for guns, my collection is up to 20 with my prize being my grandfathers 32 cal auto from WWII - before they switched to the 45 cal. Its not my most expensive one by far but its the only thing I have of his.

I'm still using my old Kodak DC280, which I bought new back when they first hit the market. Cost me a small fortune, and is of absolutely no use except as a landscape camera. Has a macro setting, that does nothing to help. It's 2.0 megapixel, which was great when I bought it. I still prefer to use my old Minolta D5 and just shoot film. Now that I'm retired, the new SLR type digitals have to get much cheaper before I can afford to try one. My old D5 was manual focus, so those lens won't fit any of the new cameras. Ron ps. Some times I feel like I just want to put my Kodak on a fence post and but then that wouldn't be fair to the fence post!

Thanks Lizard I actually have that picture up for sale at istock, but nobody's buying. They seem to be more interested in another eagle picture I took and some plainer ones. But then again I may be talking too soon... I'm fairly new at istock.

I prefer the M4 Carbine but the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW) gets the point across rather quickly. Oh you mean Camera? they dont seem to last long in the desert but I use a sony dsc-40 it works ok but not much more than a cheap point and shoot.

Infantry, over at istock theres a guy that goes by the name "Rockfinder" and he's taken pages upon pages of amazing military shots that are selling quite well. Here's his portfolio of pictures www.istockphoto.com/file_search.php?action=Browse&Cache=44549175&page=1Lizard, istock is where companies, web site builders, poster printers, etc... go and find inexpensive pictures instead of hiring outrageously priced photographers. A lot of ad's (Advertisments in magazines, bill boards, brochures) use pictures from istock. I'm still a newbie, but if your interested in seeing my portfolio it's www.istockphoto.com/file_search.php?action=file&userID=1100375 It's not just limited to companies though. Some people buy pictures for wallpaper on their computers to avoid junk mail from those wall paper web sites.
