Keep on trying!! Smoking is the stupidest thing we can do i think. I bought some patches so that i could quit, but my job is pissing me off so im waiting for things to calm down. lol Hope things work out with your quitting, just think of all the rocks and tumbling equipment you'll be able to afford when you quit! - Eric

My husband & I tried quitting together about 15 years ago...we darn near killed each other & one day he looked at me & said "Please...start smoking again!" Well, eventually, both of us were successful. He still hasn't smoked in all this time, but I'm sorry to report, I did. Even though I can go 4 or 5 days sometimes without, (don't smoke at home or in the car-pretty much only smoke at work) I haven't been able to stop all together. But I'm getting my mind straight & gearing up for the day so I can be right there with ya jonje! Good Luck!

hey jonje....let me tell you how easy it is to quit smoking.
you go to the doctor 1 day..after he does his normal exam stuff...feeling your belly...looking in your throat...normal stuff like that...he will call his nurse in and tell her to call the throat doctor..and make you an appointment as soon as possible.
well you end up at the throat doctors office...he does his looking around...and then tells you he needs to get a biopsy of a couple spots on your throat...so he does...when you go back to see the throat doctor...he tells you that the biopsy said it was something called erythroplakia...its not cancer but... it is probably going to be... but in anycase he has to try and remove the erythroplakia.
ya see...this erythroplakia stuff likes to bleed...well they start to remove the first spot...and a bunch of bleeding starts to happen...they cant seem to get the bleeding to stop...and they decide it would be best if an ambulance came from the hospital next door...and took you there just in case the bleeding wont stop...but they do get the bleeding to stop...but decide to remove the 2nd spot in the hospital...in case it happened again.
after all of the above happens to ya...theres still a 75 percent chance of you developing cancer in the throat shortly....its just the nature of this erythroplakia stuff.
both of you please keep trying everything in the world to quit...or you may just find out how easy it is to quit as i did...everything above happened to me...kevin

Thanks everyone for your support we haven't gone cold turkey but we have cut way back. We are only smoking about 5 a day now and most of those we share.

I couldn't do 5 a day. That would be torture. I think it would bring quicker results doing none. Of course, I have been in your position. It is much easier said than done. The most successful time I quit, for the longest, I went to an effective hyptnotist. I went without for 10yrs. I went to the gym, found steroids, met my 2nd wife, and ectomorphic monkey lady. Dealt with her roid rages. Developed extreme rage. I was off roids at that time. Ended up being arrested. If I had only been in the state at the time I was accused. Picked up a cigarette in the jail waiting to be released. What had really happened? I had forgotten why I wanted to quit all those years ago. I let the reasons slip and no longer thought about it. I had quit, so why worry about it. If you do go cold turkey, never let yourself forget why you wanted to quit. That was what happened. In jail, I forgot the reasons I wanted to quit, so not saying no was easy. I remember just letting go, and accepting the cigarette. Later that day, I bought a pack. I had been released. They never say sorry, just doing their job. I was hooked again just like I had been those years ago. If you want to quit, just go ahead and do it. The sooner you put out the flame, the sooner the body will stop calling for the nicotein. Then never forget why you wanted to quit. I do not go anywhere without my cigarettes. I do not even want to quit now. I once was free, and now I am bound. I never forgot I had quit for some time, and it interferes with any enjoyment I have smoking. If not smoking is what you want to do, do it, and always keep in mind why you wanted to quit. If you quit, someday that will come in handy. Especially if you do not care about anything at all. Someday you will. So will I.

I quit in Jan 1990 and have not had even one puff after that. It was a little hard for me at first...made it through the first two weeks and it was easy after that. I did have a problem being around other smokers for a while...several years in fact but now it don't bother me at all. I just do not miss smoking. Now, I can't stand to be in the same room with a smoker. Spend a night in a motel once..only room they had left was a smoking room......bailed out at 2 AM and hit the road..just couldn't take the smell anymore. Worst night I ever had I think. Good luck on your quitting.....it won't be easy but if you are ready to quit you will do it.

Jonje and Spouse, Good luck, stick to it, and be strong. Go cold turkey is you have the nerve. I believe it is the only way. Be strong for each other. Make her quit so you can spend your golden years together, out of hospitals as much as possible.
Doc, I cannot believe you are still smoking. You are not a stupid man, You know what it does to people. You taking this FloriDUH stuff too seriuosly? csroc
