I'm traveling to Nashville TN to see my birth mother. She is in the hospital and not doing well. I haven't seen alot of her since my parents divorced when I was 1, but I feel I need to go see her. I need to make sure she knows everything is ok with us and for her not to worry about her feelings of how things went. I'm leaving early in the morning and will be back late Friday night. You guys hold the fort down for me and I'll see ya when I get back. Tonja

Well, I made it back Friday Night. My son called me Thursday all upset. His friend that goes to University High School was stabbed and died. Talk about a helpless feeling! Here I am in Tennessee and couldn't get home fast enough!! I talked to him on the phone and he just kept saying for me to get there. He had played baseball with Michael for 10 years and recently on the All-star team. As the parent, I was scared for him and the other kids. There was a special memorial at the ball field Saturday were we dedicated field 3 to Michael and had a small prayer service with the family and kids of the Little League and another service scheduled at the church tonight.
Thanks for all your well wishes as my trip was successful, but the ride home horrible as you can imagine. Tonja

Tonja, I feel so empathetic toward your son. What a hard way to learn how precious is life and how easily it can be snuffed. There are always risks lots of ways every day. Let him learn a bit from this about avoiding the most serious ones, and taking care with his life. When he must knowingly place himself in harm's way let him be prepared to defend his life any way he can.

You are in my thoughts as well. My heart goes out to you and your son. I really feel for MIchael's Mother, she will probably never recover, poor thing. What a tragedy, life is so precious and fragile.................I wish that was readily understood by the younger generations, seems like they have no values or morals, ( speaking of gangs generally).
I hope your son has some good memories of his friend, those will last forever.
Boy Tonja, you have had a rough time lately, hope things even out before too long. Take care,
Jamie
