My partner was hurt at work on 7/29/06. She fell on a wet floor and hurt her back. She has a bulging disc and goes in tomorrow for an injection of steroids into her spine. She's scared spitless and I'm worried too, not that I think anything bad will happen but because she's so scared, I'm afraid it will affect her treatment.
So tomorrow at around 9 am PST, ya'll send her good thoughts and vibes and prayers or whatever, if you could.
I'm hoping this helps her heal and get back to work soon.
Thanks all!

You got it Z! I feel for you girl. My wife is disabled as her disc ruptured many years ago. Sounds like the docs are on top of it, getting to it early with the treatment. Those steroids are important and after it is done she ought to be right as rain. With physical therapy and maybe a little traction therapy that bad boy should mellow and go back into place. PRAYERS for you two!

I have these every 4 weeks tell her to try to be calm I know this is hard but if she is to tense the muscles are tight and it makes it go much harder I try to do some of the breathing you learn in Lamaze or yoga it is so scary the first time because you don't know what is happing to you make sure the Dr. doing the procedure explains EVERYTHING before he dose it it will help a lot to know what is happing because you can't see also a tennis ball to have in hand helps I think someone said PT. if you can get to a hearted pool it is God send I go to swimming PT. 3 times a week and it is the best way to take the weight off the spine ((((hug)))) to both of you and tons of good thoughts going your way Cina

Is it steroids and/or cortisone? I had a cortisone shot in my hip. It had felt like it did 15 years ago! It was great! Just wish it would have lasted longer. The doctors told me it could last anywhere from 1 to 6 months. It only lasted me about 3 weeks. They had to numb the area and they injected while my hip was getting x-rayed "live", to make sure it was getting injected into the right area. Getting an injection in the spine is scarier to me, though. I did not get an epidural when I gave birth. The hip wasn't so scary, but if I had looked at the needle, I'm sure I wouldn't have wanted to go through with it. I wish her good luck and good thoughts.

Xena~
Sorry to here about your partner...but there's little to be afraid of with these injections. It's basically just like an epidural. My wife gets one (spinal injection) for a deteriorated spinal fusion every 4 months and has been for the last 2 years. (We're having surgery in Nov.) She never has any problems except for a slight pressure sensation for the first 24 hours.
The only real danger is an allergic reaction...just keep an eye on the injection site for the first 24...
Will send up a prayer for you 2.
Dan

Well its done. The local wore off and she's in more pain than when we went in. They said this might be the case. We just called the doc's office for pain meds, if they don't give them to her, I might have to go whup up on the doc....keep the good thoughts etc goin, I have a feeling we are gonna need them.

Sometimes in cases like this, a second opinion is worthwhile.

Well that stinks...but give it some time. There is usually pressure for several hours... hopefully she will get some relief. Those injections have helped my wife tremendously.

Not really, eating the pills as often as allowed, I'm hoping the injection kicks in in a day or two.

My shot didn't seem to work for a couple of days either, but then it felt great! But I'm sure there's a big difference between your spine and your hip..............

Hey Lesa~ How is she doing? Any better? Hope so... I know how terrible back/nerve pain can be...My wife is having her 2nd spinal fusion surgery on Monday 10/6. Had the first one done more than 20 years ago and has been suffering with lots of nerve pain for the last 8 years or so. We're both nervous and excited about the prospect of getting some relief... she's being really brave but I'm gonna be a basket case for the next month or so... and she'll be in a body brace for 6 months!!
Hope she's feeling better Xena... Dan
