saw a film clip several years ago, these guys were lobbing punkins at a plywood gernsey about 400 yds. out in a picked corn field. At the rate there going , the FAA will have to set up a no fly corridor for these guys during the competition.
Sometimes late at night my mind seems to wander , and I have always thought , if there IS life, OUT THERE, why the hell haven't THEY, made contact.
Earth people just gotta be fun ta watch !!!!!!!!!!!!!

They must be punkin chuckers. Wonder how they use them and what powers them. What was an ambulance doing at the scene?

Looks like a generator in the 3rd pic. I've seen it on TV before. Would have been pretty cool to see. Maybe it will be re-scheduled? Tonja

Some of the longer guns are powered by compressed air. The air allows for a slow start followed by increasingly rapid acceleration over the entire length of the barrel of the gun. If the punkin were fired with a charge like a rifle bullet, it would leave the barrel in a liquid state.
That smaller trailer type business looks like a comercial generator / air compressor and the larger trailer holds a large tank like a natural gas / propane thing that you see in rural areas. the square box enclosing the big propane tank is made out of heavy steel plate I believe, and serves as a containment shield. If they over fill the air reservoir the damn thing might try to leave the area before the pumpkin !!! The ambulance is probably there to make the insurance co. happy.
I'll bet the coverage on this get together doesn't add up to chump change. !!!!!!!!!!
