You can pick-up a tumbler just about anywhere. The place where you purchase a tumbler tells you a lot about what can be done with it. Here are a couple of things I have learned in the 6 months we have been tumbling. 1) Toy stores sell toys! DO NOT get one from a toy shop. You will not be happy with it. 2) Brands like Lortone & Thumbler's Tumblers will last longer and require less maintenance. 3) Two barrel tumblers are worth the little extra than one barrel tumblers. 4) Size matters! Larger is better. Lets you tumbler more rocks. 5) (this one may get me in trouble) Rotary tumblers are easier to use and care for than vibe tumblers. Vibe tumblers will keep more of the orriginal rock shape design. Rotary tumblers will round corners more. For beginners I would suggest a rotary tumbler. With all that out of the way. Let me say welcome. You can pick-up a VERY GOOD tumbler & grit & material from the following link. www.therockshed.com/index.htmlIf you want to get a tumbler to see if you will like the hobby and do not want to invest a lot of cash. A good choice is a Chicage Electric (duel barrel) tumbler for Harbor Freight. This is a good starter tumber. order.harborfreight.com/EasyAsk/harborfreight/results.jspIf you think you will stay with the hobby or are getting back into the hobby bypass the Chicago Electric and go for a better tumbler. (Lortone or Thumbler's Tumber) Hope this helps. Please feel free to post any questions you have with the tumbling process.

If you are anywhere near Derbyshire there is a nice little shop that sells them - I took a drive up there and got mine. www.tideswel.demon.co.uk/I think they take telephone orders as well. They are only open certain days of the week though.

Build your own tumbler....Various parts are available from the popular companies--Add you own motor.. and it will do more for your understanding of the tumbling process..This is easier than you may think...
