I just got an older model thumler off ebay. It is a model A-1, and its just a single 6lb barrel tumbler. the lid just slides in place, and isnt that snug. I also found out that it is not water tight. So my question is, what can I do to make the lid water tight?

Did you even GET the 'O' ring that goes around the lip on top to hold the lid on?

The thumler A-2 I just dug out of my garage didn't come with an O ring. I think it is about the same as an A-1, it just holds 2 3lb barrels. A Lortone 4lb barrel works just fine on it too which is what I am running on it now.

I run with thumlers barrels...you can get replacement lids and o-rings at the rockshed. The lids are two bucks and the o-rings $2.50 a pop. Not bad considering I've only ever had to replace one O ring and that was because the cat chewed half way through it.

JK... either the rock shed or thumlers web site have the lids and o rings available. i thought they had them at the rock shed though. cuz i just got 2 new barrels and the lids were just beneth them. good luck!!! as for the water tight seal...on my A-2 the seal isnt really water tight...a small bead of water comes out the side but doesnt drip or anything...just goes around with the barrel, but i can see and even wipe the water from around the rim. no big deal in my book

Try a good auto parts store. Take the barrel and have them match an O - ring. I have done this for rings and belts.
