I know this is old news to anyone owning any tumbler other than the kiddy model... but that thing is so quiet, so much that I could forget about it for the longest time if I wasn't so anxious about seeing the final product.... ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) My Lortone 33B is mega quiet, mind you I've only got one of the barrels that is loaded with stones going through the coarse, but I can barely hear it. I had to hide the kiddy one in my cold room & cover it up so I wouldn't hear it upstairs. This is great.... ![8-)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/cool.png) BTW I have to ask Andy/Mark/Mandy to downgrade my status to newbie again - with all these questions, I'm a full member and I have basically no knowledge of this craft yet and have yet to turn out a decent product. Andy/Mark/Mandy can you turn back time for me? ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

Listen kiddo, Andy/Mark/Mandy/Phred is not going to downgrade anybody. I made God without having a clue. You have earned a full membership. Enjoy it with all the mixed feelings we all have. We need you.

I think the majority of us who have gained "God/Godess" status have done so only through asking alot of questions, not posting smart answers. Once achieved, the status can be used for a bit of a strut, if only partialy earned. Mark aka Andy aka Mandy aka Phred is in line with the rest of us, that's why we love him. I started with a vibe and assumed it was pretty quiet as I only had to close one door to a bedroom once we got used to it. Now withj my my 15# thumblers 33B, if i don't listen closely when I come home, I may not hear it. But, Of course, that is the first thing I listen for, to make sure everything is OK. 2 Days last week I came home and it didn't sound right. I ran in to check and sure enough, it was leaking! Got it fixed and I'm going into 600 tommorrow! You go girlfriend!

I couldn't believe how quite the Lortones run either (started with the C. E.'s) Sometimes I'll be in the shop for a bit and panic because I don't hear it running. I'll quick glance over and be relieved ever thing is still rolling.
Just got my 12 lb tumbler going this week, all I hearing is the relaxing sound of rock tumbling. and to think I have one of those sound machines in the bedroom to drown out noises..... I think my husband would have a fit if I moved the tumbler into the bedroom. ;D

Membership status is not based on what you know...(I'd still be a newbie if that were the case). It's based on your partispation within this group. Ask as many questions as you need to ask...that is how we learn. Learning is a never ending process.... I am a member of this group because I can learn from other members..share a pic or two...a laugh..or a cry....to me it's like a family.

So True- I have learned soo much here- And I need to learn so much more- Tweet you and I joined about the same time and you have asked so many of the questions that I was afraid to ask- Oh and my Thumblers is soo quit also- Kinda miss the kiddie running and making all that noise! So you have earned the status you have- Asking questions is the only way we learn!

share a pic or two...a laugh..or a cry....to me it's like a family. Pho Pho if you have a look at the pictures of my first batch, you will see that I have done all - laugh, cry - I really can't wait to laugh about that first batch and see what kind of progress I've made - unfortunately a large portion of that very first batch is now in my third batch as do-overs - I hope they come out better. I have to say I've really enjoyed this forum. I still feel that I have learned so much, I can actually identify one or two different types of rock now! BTW has anyone noticed that Andy/Mark/Mandy/Phred has been quite absent - anyone think he's now registered as a new member under an new name?

The artist formerly known as Andy has been kidnapped. I have him chained to the radiator in my basement, where he tends my lapidary equipment.
And puts the lotion on its skin!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

When you ask..we all get educated..or at least have a forum to voice an opinion..not everyone has the confidence to ask questions..discussion beats lecturing every time!
