I GOT PRMOTED TO SURVEILLANCE MANAGER TODAY
I'm scared to death, tickled pink and proud as a peacock. I've worked long and hard for this and they finally realized I was serious about leaving if they didn't give me a reason not to.
So since I'm stuck here, ya'll the bar is open the first round is on me!!

What the hell was I thinking?
Had to do my first employee counseling last night on my problem child. He starts throwing stuff out that I wasn't prepared to answer ( I am today by cracky!) and basically said that he had followed what training he received ( true to a point, but he's experienced and knows what is expected and required in this job). So now I have to find all the documentation for the room ( OH JOY this should be fun, last boss never finished stuff so I don't know if its finalized rules or proposed etc). But that's ok, trial by fire is good for the soul.
Any manager types out there, gimme a yell and some advice!

hehehe.... Now comes the 'fun' part huh? Wish I could help out with some advice ...maybe you could turn it around on him and say that it's his responsibilty to request the training he needs if he is ignorant of his job duties. Shame is a great motivator!!

LOL Thanks Cher! I'm beginning to wonder what the heck I was thinking when I insisted on this job. When its done right, its a never ending battle of paperwork, politics and basically no life. But I'm learning alot about myself and different sides of the casino industry so......
Be careful what you ask for folks, you just might get it! LOL

Got your 'no-nonsense' look on today huh? Well.. having to fire someone isn't a reflection on your character at all but it's never easy. I've been on both ends  ...Have to take the bad with the good I suppose. Hang in there Lesa, there'll be good aspects to this position too. |

Well I found out last night that this guy has a $300 camara of ours and I gotta find out if I can hold his check until we get it back or what....wish someone had told me this more than 24 hours before I planned to let him go grrr....
As I said, I'm sure learning alot at least and if nothing else it will look good on my resume...
