If you liked Baz's Celestia program that he posted, you might also want to take a look at this site and play around with it too. It is called Terragen. It is a free downloadable program that lets you create your own earth-like landscape much like the ones you see in todays popular video games and such. You can create your own surface 'map' with textures, clouds, water and other features and then walk through it much like walking in a game. It's really neat to explore. The program can be downloaded at this site. Hope you enjoy it! www.planetside.co.uk/

I love this program, once you get used to the controls it's pretty easy. Renderosity even has a whole section of art with this program. Thanks for turning me on to it. I can spend hours working with this. Something else to take up my time, now I'm not working so much.
If you want to see some humor they put into the program, go to animation screen, and hit button 9, keep hitting it a few times..

Earthdog - That picture is really cool! ;D Its amazing the things you can do with it. I really haven't had the chance to mess around with it to that degree but it does have some cool features. Glad you like it so much.

Wow E-dog! That last one looks like some of those pictures the rovers have sent back from Mars. You must really be having some fun! I'll have to take some more time to explore it a little. Right now I am exploring Baz's Celestia space program as my boy loves it. Was thinking you could almost use this program to make a gaming platform if one had the knowhow - like some of those cheap Internet games that are downloadable.

For some reason I cant seem to get my finished pictures to save. I did two last night with the program and was going to post them today but they are not there anymore. I spent about 2 hours on each one - that sucks! What format is everyone using to save their pics? Well I finally figured out how to save. I did this one in about ten minutes. Sure wish I could have saved the others - oh well I guess I'll have to make some more. The only thing that is hard is trying to get the land formations to have good contrast like the rest - the water and sky seem to look better. Guess I need more practice.

Your right, it is addictive! Those look real good. I think the only way to save them is in bmp file. The new and improved Terragen2 will be out this month also. I might go ahead and buy the thing. I kinda wish they had some templates to start off with. I noticed some people are importing other things into their pictures like space ships, birds and such. How can you do that?

I was wondering if you could add/ import anything to these also. I have 4-5 landscape design programs that have all kinds of trees and bushes that would look great on a close up shot in the foreground. Been trying figure out a way to add them. I wonder if it could be done in a photo editing program? Will have to do some experimenting.

I found this site linked to the Terragen site. I downloaded a couple of free tree and folaige apps that I am going to check out for adding some trees and stuff to the pics. It looks as if they will work with a photo or paint program for adding to the pics after they have been saved. They have a bunch of other cool products for purchase also. www.gardenhose.com/

I think I have found a cool way to add images to the pictures. The only problem is that I used a very old landscape design program that is no longer available. It is called Sierra PhotoLand Design and you can take an actual photo or picture and add to it to create a before and after design shot. It has all kinds of trees shrubs etc. that you can add and edit to your liking. It is a long process to get everything the way it is needed, but worked really well. Here is a picture that I did last night in about 6 hours. I still want to experiment with it and see about doing it better. See what you think. I am looking for downloads for the program so that others might be able to try it.

That looks cool. I see they don't have any "extras" for the program. I have a place to look though, I'll let ya know what I find out.
