Any Floridians on the board that had the privelige to watch/hear/feel this thing? God Speed and a Safe Return to these Courageous Explorers! gaetz

Oh yes. I live 20 miles from the launch site and it is always an amazing sight. The night time launches are spectacular. I posted a few pics on another thread, but my photography skills aren't the best. I have family that works on the shuttle program and it's a speacial thing to see these birds fly. When it comes home in 12 days, the sonic booms are just as cool. This type of thing makes me happy to be living in Florida. Other then this, I'd rather be in the mountains of Georgia!! God speed to the shuttle and crew, safe mission and return!!! Tonja

Gaetz - as good as it gets - the way I see it is this "Lets get the f*** off this rock and FAST" Those guys are seriously BIG explorers - nothing beats it that weve got here. Lets hope all this leads us to departing this rock and bobbing on over to another

My spyware programs do not let that load. I live in Floriduh, but, although I have been to the space center I have never seen a launch other than on the boob tube. Someday if I do not go back to Alaska first.

GGRRRRR, wanted to save some of the pics for wallpaper, but no go. This was the first shuttle launch I've missed since the disaster off the pad.
I took it all for granted until then, it was the middle of the afternoon as I remember I was a Policeman then and had parked in front of the ER to take a victims statement about something you really don't want to know about, but as I was about to turn off the key the shuttle launched so I waited, then in seconds it blew up. I had never seen so many tears behind blue masks as the news spread. since then I have either seen on tv or heard each launch. Guess it was one of those moments you will never forget. Thank you for posting those pictures they are amazing.
